West Ham United Betting Guide
Formed: 1895
Home: Boleyn Ground
Capacity: 35,300
Nickname: The Irons/Hammers
After a two year absence West Ham regained their place back in the Premier League in 2005. The are a team who normally finish around mid table, with their best ever finish being a fifth place in the 1998/99 season.
Gianfranco Zola had a decent first season as manager leading West Ham into ninth place in the league. He definitely had the team playing god football at times –which will please the Hammers fans-but a lack of depth in the squad may work against them finishing any further up the table.
We do believe they over achieved a little last season and while a top 10 finish is realistic, betting on West Ham to finish any higher than that isn’t something we’d recommend.
One West Ham bet to considering in matches during the season is the under 2.5 goals per game bet. Over the last two seasons 55.5% of their games have resulted in less than2.5 goals and away from home that percentage rises to just over 60%.
This West Ham team has potential and in cup matches could prove a worthwhile bet. A Carling Cup run (where the top teams tend to put out weaker sides) is possible and having a small bet on West Ham to lift the trophy should be considered.
West Ham record against the big four teams since 2004/5 season
Arsenal - Played: 8 Won 3 Drawn 2 Lost 3
Chelsea- Played: 8 Won 0 Drawn 1 Lost 7
Man Utd- Played:8 Won 3 Drawn 0 Lost 5
Liverpool Played: 8 Won 1 Drawn 1 Lost 6
With 65% of all their matches resulting in losses against the big four we believe betting against West Ham in matches against the top four is the bets betting option to take.
We’re predicting a top half finish (but only just) for West Ham this season and maybe a decent cup run.
