International Football Wednesday

There are some World Cup Qualifiers taking place tonight as well as a number of friendlies.

World Cup Qualifiers

Ireland are unbeaten in their three group games so far and should take all three points from their match with Georgia tonight. Georgia have only managed two draws from their four group matches so far and although they may prove difficult to break down, it’s hard to see them keeping the Republic team at bay.

We’re taking Ireland to win at 4/11(Coral). Backing them to win to nil at Evens (Ladbrokes) should be a bet to get on. Our prediction is a 2-0 win for Ireland 5/1 (Partybets).

Northern Ireland are away to San Marino, who not only lose every match they play in, but also fail to score regularly. San Marino have failed to score in 13 of their last 16 games and have conceded 69 goals too. Northern Ireland are as you would expect long odds on to win at 1/8 (Bet365). They should win to nil 4/7 (Ladbrokes) and we’re taking a 4-0 correct score 7/1 (Paddypower).

Malta play Albania tonight and a victory for the home side would be a major shock. Albania are no great shakes, but they have only lost once in four games and did beat Malta 3-0 at home last year. Albania 20/37 (Bodog) have to be the winners.

International Friendlies

It doesn’t really pay to get heavily involved in friendly matches when betting. Most teams experiment and with new players and formations and there’s very little continuity. You can still have some fun trying to beat the bookmaker however and there’s plenty of opportunities to do just that tonight.

One of the big games is the Spain v England clash. England look set to give Carlton Cole his debut up front as they will be without Defoe and Rooney and we just think England might be a bit short on firepower when it comes down to the crunch tonight.

Spain have a full squad to choose from and look worth backing to run out winners at 21/20 (Partybets) as they have won their last six home matches without even losing a goal. We don’t believe there will be too much between the teams, but we’re going for Spain to win 2-0 7/1 (Partybets).

France haven’t been at their best lately and the will field a strong team against Argentina tonight. Argentina looked impressive on their recent visit to Glasgow where they beat Scotland easily and they will prove a tough test for Raymond Domenech and his team.

Argentina look worth backing at 7/4 (Ladbrokes) against an ordinary looking French team.

Other bets we like in friendlies tonight include Sweden 27/20 (Bodog) to win in Austria, Bulgaria to win in Switzerland 11/4 (Partybets) and we think home wins for Estonia Evens (Corall), Poland 11/10 (Bet365) and Greece 5/4 (VCbet) could be worth backing at decent prices.
