Pre Season Games-The Wembley Cup
Plenty of pre season games this weekend including the Wembley Cup which will be televised on Sky and starts today (Friday) and finishing on Sunday.
Wembley Cup
Four teams are taking part in the tournament Barcelona, Tottenham, Glasgow Celtic and Al Ahly.
Celtic kick of the tournament against African champions Al Ahly at 5pm tonight. Celtic have played a couple of friendlies already and should be stripping fitter now. We don’t know too much about Al Ahly to be honest, apart from the fact they have won the CAF Cup (Africa’s equivalent if the Champions league) four times.
They are well organised and physically strong, so we expect this game to be a close run thing. We’re tipping Celtic to just edge it at odds of 8/13 (Paddypower) and we’re going for a 2-1 win 7/1 (Ladbrokes).
Later at 8pm Tottenham face up to the might of Barcelona and although the Catalan giants may have been upstaged by rival Real Madrid in the spending stakes this summer, they still have quality team.
One bet we believe will give a return on your money is the over 2.5 goals at 8/13 (Skybet). Barcelona look really attractively priced at 11/10 (Coral) and we think you should take them a that price if you can. Even although it is a friendly we can’t see Barcelona just going through the motions and if they play to their best they will beat Tottenham.
On Sunday Barcelona play Al Ahly and again should be comfortable winners. They are too short a price to back in the win market here and there are no real stand out bets of any value. It could be worthwhile taking Barcelona to win the tournament at 1/2 (Ladbrokes).
Spurs and Celtic close the tournament and we think this match could end in a draw 12/5 (Coral), We’r e tipping a 1-1 correct score 11/2 (Coral).
Pre Season Games
Other pre season games taking place where there could be a bit of value include the Sunderland v Benfica match.
Benfica aren’t anywhere near the force they once were and Sunderland look to be on offer at a really good price of 11/4 (Paddypower) and must be worth a bet at that price.
We’re tipping Sunderland to win 2-1 at 12/1 (Bet365).
Huddersfield played well against Newcastle in mid week and at 11/8 (Paddypower) to beat Coventry might be worth a bet against the Championship side. Coventry aren’t great on the road and Huddersfield have bee hard to beat at home recently so we’re going for the 1-0 win 7/1 (Coral).
Middlesbrough Evens (Paddypower), Cardiff 11/10 (Skybet), Southend Evens (Coral), West Brom 11/10 (Paddypower) and Morecambe 2/1 (Skybet) all look capable of getting wins at decent prices.
