What looked like a pretty easy away game for Chelsea now takes on a whole different complexion now that Alan Shearer has returned as manager. The whole place will have been given a boost and the fans will be noisy and getting behind their team for the full 90minutes.

New managers always seem to bring about improved performances and we just have a sneaky suspicion that an upset could be on the cards. Chelsea don’t have a particularly good record away at Newcastle and at 9/2 (Paddypower) they could be overpriced given the circumstances.

Arsenal are at home to Manchester City and there’s a stark contrast in the form of the two teams. Arsenal are unbeaten in 16 matches at home and City are without an away league win in 13 matches.  When you also look at the fact City have picked up only one point from a possible 24 away to Arsenal then the home win look like  a certainty. We’re having a bet on a 3-0 correct score 11/1 (Skybet) .

Bolton have been quite good at home considering how far down the league they are and they may need to call on that form to dispose of Middlesbrough. This match is the proverbial six-pointer and with Middlesbrough finding away wins difficult to come by a Bolton win at  11/10 (Bet365) looks to be a very good price.

Manchester United have lost their last two games and they might be thanking their lucky stars that they have got Aston Villa at home, as they have been in poor form lately too. Villa haven’t won in  four away matches and this could be five.

Bottom club West Brom have drawn their last two home matches, but they haven’t won in eight at the Hawthorn’s. Opponents Stoke are awful away from home and the Baggies must see this as a real opportunity to get three vital points. We’re going for a 1-0 correct score 7/1 (Ladbrokes) and think the first goalscorer could be James Morrison 12/1 (Coral).

Liverpool travel to Fulham who beat Manchester United in their last home match and will be looking to take another big scalp. Fulham have held their own at home in recent years against Liverpool winning three and losing three in the last six meetings at Craven Cottage. Liverpool have scored 15 goals in their last four games in all competitions and with the over 2.5 goals at11/10 (Bet365) that looks a bet to be putting a few quid on. We’re taking a chance on a 3-2 correct score bet at 40/1 (Skybet).

Hull are at home to Portsmouth in a match that both sides desperately need to win. If Portsmouth can beat Hull they will  move above them in the table , but their away for hasn’t been good and the win 9/5 (Paddypower) doesn’t look as if it will happen.

Hull haven’t won in seven matches at home and we ‘re not sure they can win this either. We’re recommending a bet on a 1-1 correct score at 6/1 (Skybet).
