Premiership and Championship Best Bets

We’re concentrating on the Premiership and Championship for our selections this weekend while the lower league teams play in the first round of the FA Cup.

Premier League

The big game this weekend is the fixture between Arsenal and Manchester United. While Arsenal seem to be stuttering at the moment, drawing and losing their last two league matches, United are on a charge and are unbeaten in their last seven.

Manchester United can go four points clear of Arsenal with a win and they are slight favourites at 11/8 (Paddypower) to take all three points. Arsenal are a good price for a home team at 9/4 (Coral) and although they may not have been firing on all cylinders recently they will raise their game for United.

Manchester United have drawn four of their last six away matches against Arsenal and we believe that a draw is the most likely outcome of the game this weekend. We’re selecting a draw at 11/5 (Partybets) and we’ll have a little bet on the 1-1 correct score 6/1 (Skybet).

Chelsea were poor against Roma in midweek and they will be going all out to put that horror show behind them when they travel to Blackburn on Sunday. Chelsea are unbeaten away from home and have a god record away at Blackburn They have only lost once in their last seven visits to Ewood Park and look a banker bet. Even at 1/2 (VCbet) we reckon Chelsea are worth backing.

For the correct score bets we’re having a small interest in the 3-1 correct score 12/1 (Partybets) and the 3-2 at 28/1 (Coral).

Both Wigan and Stoke had good wins last weekend and will be looking for another three points from this match. Wigan can go just above Stoke if they win and with Stoke’s form on the road even poorer than Wigan’s home form we’re taking the home win for Wigan at 8/11 (Ladbrokes). Amr Zaki is our selection to get the first goal 4/1 (Partybets).

Liverpool are pretty short 1/5 (Bodog) to get the win against West Brom but we can’t see any other outcome. It looks like it could be an easy day at the office for the Reds and we’re going for a 3-0 win 7/1 (Coral).

We really can’t understand why Hull are odds against at home to Bolton. Bolton have only one win away from home all season and although Hull have lost their last two matches it has been against Chelsea and Man Utd, so they can hardly be seen as out of form. We think Hull are great value at 5/4 (Bet365) and they should be well backed.

We’re taking a 2-0 correct score to Hull at 23/2 (Betfair).

Championship

Leaders Wolves may not have it all their own way against a Burnley side that haven’t lost in five matches and are now fourth in the table. Wolves do have a good home record and have only lost to Reading so far, but we’re taking Burnley to surprise a few people and we’re going for a draw 23/10 (Bodog). We recommend a small stake on the 1-1 correct score13/2 (Skybet).

Birmingham have only lost once away from home this season and they travel to Nottingham Forest who haven’t won in five games and are in danger of becoming adrift from the third from bottom club at the foot of the table. It would be a shock if Birmingham were not to take all three points and they are not too bad a price at 11/10 (Bet365).

Birmingham haven’t managed a clean sheet away from home so far this season so we’re going for a 2-1 correct score 15/2 (Partybets).

The other two bets we are selecting are both home wins. Reading 8/11 (Ladbrokes) to beat Derby and Norwich 6/5 (VCbet) to beat Preston.
