Weekend English League Matches
Although the football fixture list is dominated by International matches this weekend there are still some domestic fixtures taking place and we’ve had a look at them and selected a few we think can net us some winning bets.
Friday
There‘s a League One match between Southend and Hartlepool taking place tonight and this looks as if it could be a pretty straightforward victory for the home side. Hartlepool haven’t won any of their last three away games and they have only managed one win in their last six games. Southend have a decent home record this season and are our pick in this match. We’re tipping a 2-1 correct score 8/1 (Skybet).
Saturday
League One
The top two teams in the division meet when Peterborough play hosts to Leicester. The Posh could do with a win to close the gap on Leicester, but we think they may have to settle for a point.
Carlisle were beaten in midweek by second bottom Hereford and they could be on the end of another defeat against Northampton. Both sides are in relegation trouble, but Carlisle seem to be in freefall and haven’t won in seven games at home. Northampton are a point behind Carlisle and have to have a chance of winning this and going above them given how poorly Carlisle are playing at present. We’re picking a 1-0 scoreline 8/1 (Coral). Try a small bet on Jason Crowe 16/1 (Ladbrokes) to be first goalscorer.
Millwall have won their last five away matches and are chasing an automatic promotion spot after a good run of form. Crewe have also picked up lately, but their away form is far better than their form at home, so we’re going for a Millwall win.
Hereford got a much needed win at Carlisle earlier this week and they look as if they could get something from their home match against Huddersfield who haven’t won in eight away games and haven’t won any of the last seven matches they have played, we’re tipping a 2-0 win 13/1 (Paddypower).
League Two
Wycombe are in danger of losing out on an automatic promotion place if their awful form continues. They haven’t won in four matches and need a win to maintain their challenge. They play Shrewsbury who are in a play off place at present. Shrewsbury would be a lot higher up the table if they could win away from home. They haven’t won in 18 away games but they have drawn 11 matches away from home and could pick up a point again here.
Wycombe have drawn three of their last four matches against Shrewsbury and the score has been 1-1 on each occasion. At 6/1 (Skybet) we think the 1-1 correct score is worth backing again.
Morecambe are unbeaten in their last seven home games and in 12 in total. They meet an in form Luton aide who have won three of their last four games. There won’t be a lot between these two sides, but Morecambe look a pretty attractive price to get a home win and so we’re selecting them. The correct score bet of 2-0 8/1 (Coral) is worth a bet.
Bradford will be hoping to end a run of five away games without a win when hey visit Chester City. Chester haven’t won for 17 games now and even with Bradford going through a slump in form we can’t see them winning.
