Wednesday Matches

Cardiff v Watford

Tonight’s match in the Championship is one of the games in hand Cardiff have on all the teams above them in the league, so they will be looking to get a win. They play an in form Watford who could also do with the three points to give themselves a little breathing space for the bottom three.

Both teams are in good form at present with Cardiff unbeaten in their last six games and Watford undefeated in three. There will be a bit of pressure on the home team to get the win tonight and we think they will. It probably won’t be a comprehensive win so we’re going for a 2-1 correct score bet 15/2 (Skybet). Ross McCormack 5/1 (Bet365) is our pick to be first goalscorer.

Scotland

Aberdeen are at home to Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup Quarter Final replay. First Division Dunfermline played well to hold their SPL opponents to a 1-1 draw at home in the first match, but it’s going to be a lot tougher away at Pittodrie and we can’t see an upset.

Aberdeen have gone 10 games unbeaten at home and with Dunfermline without a win in four, it seems a home win is the sensible betting option, and we recommend a 3-0 correct score bet at 10/1 (Betfair).

In the Scottish Second Division leaders Ayr are away to east Fife and the 11/10 (Ladbrokes) looks to be worth taking.  East Fife are without a win in five games and it could pay to stick with Ayr who appear to be the team in form.

UEFA Cup

St Etienne are looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Werder Bremen and with the French side in the middle of a relegation battle there is talk they could rest players for this match. Werder have had four clean sheets in a row and they could get another tonight as we thin the might try and sit on their lead. Our prediction is a draw 23/10 (Coral).

Ajax lost their first leg game 2-1 in Marseille, but wit home advantage they can overcome the in form French team and get the win that will see them go through. We expect this to be a tight match and the 1-0 7/1 (Paddypower) correct score in Ajax’s favour is where our money is going. Luis Suarez 5/1 (Bet365) is our choice as first goalscorer.

UEFA Cup Thursday

Manchester City fly the flag for England and with a two goal lead to protect going into their away game with Aalborg they look set to go through.

Aalborg showed in their Champions League games that they can score goals and they are sure to give it a go against City tomorrow. We think that will leave gaps for City to exploit and we believe City will score at least once and that should be enough to put the tie to bed.

We’re taking a chance on the 2-2 correct score 16/1 (Coral) and are having a small bet on Shaun Wright-Phillips to be first goalscorer at 11/1 (Paddypower).

Holders Zenit St Petersburg trail by 2-0 to Udinese and will do well to overturn that deficit. We think they might and we’re going for a 2-0 correct score 7/1 (Skybet) which would take the game into extra time. Zenit to qualify 7/2 (Paddypower) is a nice price and worth considering.
