Wednesday’s Football Bets- No Shock For Chelsea
FA CUP
After a rather surprising 1-1 draw in the first game we fully expect Chelsea to get their act together and beat Southend comfortably in the replay tonight. The only shock we can see for Chelsea supporters is the exclusion of Didier Drogba from the Chelsea squad (Does this mean he is on his way out of Stamford Bridge?).
Chelsea have looked out of sorts recently, but can get back on track with a decent win tonight and we reckon they will do that with the minimum of fuss. Chelsea didn’t look good in their 3-0 defeat to title rivals Manchester United at the weekend and Southend will probably think if they can get at them early then they could possibly manage an upset.
We think Chelsea can win to nil 4/5 (Ladbrokes) and this offers better value than the straight win for Chelsea at 2/9 (Skybet). The 4-0 correct score at 12/1 (Coral) and 5-0 20/1 (Partybets) are bets that both interest us and we’ll be having a small bet on both.
Nicolas Anelka 4/1 (Partybets) to be first goalscorer looks worth a bet.
Newcastle and Hull are both teams who are finding it difficult to win at the moment. Hull’s tremendous start to the season seems to have fizzled out and Newcastle have never got going. Both teams are drawing far too many games in the league with Hull drawing five of their last ten matches and Newcastle drawing six of their last ten games.
Another draw for these two teams tonight wouldn’t surprise us, as we don’t think there is a great deal between them. The draw is 12/5 (Bodog) and does look the safest option bet to be on.
Newcastle are 10/11(Partybets) to win and that price looks okay, but doesn’t really get us excited. Hull at 10/3 (Ladbrokes) looks a slightly better betting proposition to us despite not having won any of their last six away matches.
We are selecting the draw tonight, but think taking Hull to qualify 7/4 (Ladbrokes) and to win in extra time 13/1 (Paddypower) are bets that have to be worth considering.
Our prediction is a 1-1 correct score 6/1 (Bet365) with Daniel Cousin 9/1 (Ladbrokes) our tip to be first goalscorer.
Crystal Palace have a very good home record this season –losing only twice-and wan see this being a major plus in their match against League One leaders Leicester City. Leicester are used to winning and will be tough opponents for palace and at odds of 3/1 (Bodog) we’re sure they will have plenty of support in the betting.
We do feel that Palace may prove too strong for Leicester and we’re going for a Palace win at 10/11 (Coral), which we think isn’t too bad a price.
We’re having a bet on a 2-0 correct score 5/1 (Partybets) and think Shefki Kuqi 13/2 (Bet365) could be the first goalscorer.
Premier League
If Manchester United beat Wigan tonight they will move ominously into second position the league and will surely put pressure on leaders Liverpool. After their win against Chelsea at the weekend it’s hard to envisage United slipping up tonight, when they know another win would spell out their title ambitions loud and clear to their big rivals.
Wigan are having a good season and are playing well at present with only one defeat in seven league games They are now up to seventh in the league but it would still be a real surprise if they were to take anything at all from tonight’s match. Wigan have never beaten United in a Premier League game and have only managed one goal at Old Trafford in their three matches there.
United are 2/11 (Bodog) to win tonight and while those odds are hardly going to make you rich they do look about right when you consider United have only dropped one point at home all season.
We’re taking the 3-1 correct score at 12/1 (Skybet) and think Darren Fletcher at 18/1 (Paddypower) is worth a chance at big odds.
