Wednesday Football Action

The betting action tonight involves three Carling Cup and five SPL matches.

We’ve selected our best bets from these matches and we’re hopeful we can come up with some winning bets.

Chelsea are at home to Championship side Burnley in the Carling Cup this evening. Even with Burnley in good form it’s difficult to select anything other than a home win. Chelsea are 1/5 (VCbet) to win the match with the draw priced at 11/2 (Partybets) and Burnley quoted at 16/1 (Bet365) to get the shock win.

The correct score of 3-1 11/1 (Ladbrokes) is a bet we think may come up and Salomon Kalou is worth backing to be first goalscorer at 5/1 (Coral).

Sunderland have needed extra-time against Nottingham Forest and Northampton to reach this stage and their tie with Blackburn may also need longer than 90 minutes to be decided. Blackburn have a decent record against Sunderland winning the last four times the teams have met. There hasn’t been a lot between the sides when they have met however and we see the under 1.5 goals as a decent bet at 12/5 (Paddypower).

We’re taking the match to end in a draw 9/4 (Partybets) and we’re also taking the 0-0 correct score 9/1(Paddypower). Both teams are quoted at 9/1 (Paddypower) to win on penalties and at that price we think it’s a bet worth considering. The no goalscorer bet at 8/1 (Ladbrokes) is another bet we fancy.

Carling Cup holders Tottenham are now unbeaten in four games and they can get a repeat of their recent 2-1 home victory over Liverpool when the sides meet again tonight.

This tournament doesn’t seem to be a priority for Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and we can expect to see some unfamiliar faces in his team tonight.

Harry Redknapp will be looking to keep Spurs winning form going and Tottenham are a great price at 8/5 (Partybets) to win tonight .Liverpool are 13/8 (VCbet) to get the win and a draw is 13/5 (Betfair).

The 2-1 scoreline is our correct score selection at 9/1 (Coral).

SPL Matches

There’s SPL action in Scotland tonight and despite still having a whole host of injuries we’re tipping Celtic to take all three points against Kilmarnock. It’s been an incredible 53 years since Kilmarnock last won at Celtic Park and even at 1/6 (Bodog) we have to tip Celtic. The 3-0 correct score bet 38/5 (Betfair) looks worth backing and we’re taking Barry Robson to be first goalscorer 8/1 (Ladbrokes)

The other half of the Old Firm Rangers, are away at Motherwell and they look likely to pick up all three points 8/15 (Bet365). They have already beaten Motherwell 2-1 at home and that’s a scoreline that could be repeated tonight at odds of 7/1 (Ladbrokes).

Dundee United are unbeaten in nine matches (including a 3-3 draw away at Rangers) and they look fantastic value at Evens (Coral) to beat Hibernian tonight.

Hamilton managed to end a seven match losing streak when they took a point against Falkirk on Saturday. We’re going to tip Hamilton to share the spoils this evening against a Hearts side without a win in their last three home matches. We’re going for a draw 13/5 (Bodog). The1-1 correct score looks worthwhile backing at 13/2 (Skybet).

The home form of Inverness hasn’t been good this season and they’ve only won one from six home matches. Falkirk beat Inverness narrowly 1-0 in the League Cup Quarter Final a few weeks ago and at 37/20 (Bodog) we think it’s worth having a small bet on them winning tonight again. We’re selecting a 2-1 win to Falkirk 10/1 (Ladbrokes)
