Champions League –Take Manchester United to win
Manchester United travel to Portugal to take on Porto tonight in what looks like one of their hardest ever tasks they have faced in the Champions League. After the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford last week Porto look to be in the driving seat for tonight’s game but we think United could rise to the challenge and put in a vintage performance that would be enough to see them go through.
United haven’t been at their best in recent weeks and have looked pretty poor defensively at times. They will need to keep things tight at the back early on and we think taking the half-time/full-time result of draw Manchester United 4/1 (Ladbrokes) could bring a return.
We wouldn’t be at all surprised to see United raise their game tonight and put behind them the defensive frailties that have plagued them in recent weeks. They kept Inter at bay in the away leg in the last round and we can see them keeping a clean sheet tonight too. United to win to Nil at 5/2 (Paddypower) is a bet we’re going to be having.
Porto are 13/5 (Bet365) to get a home win and that’s a decent price for a team who have never lost to an English team on home soil. Given that record the draw at 9/4 (Ladbrokes) could be the best option if you don’t think United can get a result. We’re also tipping a correct score of 1-0 13/2 (Skybet). We think Dimitar Berbatov could pop up with the vital goal at 7/1 (Bet365).
With the incentive of a possible all English clash with United in the semi finals Arsenal will be looking to finish off the good work they started when getting a 1-1 draw in Spain last week.
The bookmakers definitely think Arsenal can get the result they need to progress and are 8/15 (Ladbrokes) to win the match tonight. Arsenal do have a few injuries but they showed away at Wigan at the weekend that they have capable deputies and it could be Villa real who are hit most by missing players with influential midfielder Senna missing the match through injury.
Villareal are as big as 13/2 (Skybet) to win tonight and while that may be a slightly bigger than we’d expect; there’s no real indication that they can come to the Emirates and get a result.
Arsenal have been on the goal trail in recent weeks and have managed to score three or more goals in no less than five occasions. With an early goal tonight they could go on and score a few and we’re taking them to win comfortable.
Theo Walcott is our tip to be first goalscorer and he is available at 15/2 (Bet365).
