Champions League-Chelsea v Liverpool
Chelsea look to have the upper hand in their second leg clash with Liverpool, after their great 3-1 victory at Anfield. We don’t believe this tie is quite dead yet and we expect Liverpool to come out and have a real go at Chelsea tonight.
Chelsea may very well think they have already done enough to clinch the tie and it’s possible they will look to hold on to what they have and try and frustrate Liverpool.
Chelsea will be without John Terry for tonight’s tie and he could be a big miss. Liverpool look set to take a gamble and play Steven Gerrard even though he is not fully fit and his presence could inspire Liverpool.
Chelsea’s home form has been pretty solid this season, although Liverpool did win 1-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season. It looks a nearly impossible task for Liverpool to overcome a 3-1 deficit and unless the Chelsea defence cave in like they did against Bolton on Saturday we can’t see Liverpool getting the goals they need to go through.
Chelsea are 6/4 (Skybet) to win tonight and that’s not a bad price if you fancy them.
Liverpool would go through with a 2-0 scoreline and you can get 14/1 (Bet365) about that happening. We can see Liverpool getting a win tonight, but we can’t see them being able to do enough to get through, although their 4-0 win at Old Trafford recently shows they are capable of getting a result.
In what should be an entertaining game for the neutral we think the over 2.5 goals at Evens (Paddypower) could be a decent bet. The half-time/full-time result of Liverpool/Liverpool is 9/2 (Coral) and that is a bet worth considering.
First goalscorer betting options have to include Didier Drogba with six goals in seven games and he is available at 11/2 (Ladbrokes). Steven Gerrard 15/2 (Bet365) usually manages to score in big games and he is our selection.
Bayern Munich look only to be playing for their pride when they take on Barcelona tonight. A disastrous first half in the Nou Camp in the first leg saw them concede four goals and their Champions league hopes dashed.
Even with a four goal advantage Barcelona look as if they will field a full strength team and more goals look likely in this tie. The over 2.5 goals is 4/7 (Paddypower) and should bring a return on your stake. A bet on both teams to score at 8/15 (Bet365) is another bet worth placing.
Barcelona are 6/4 (Paddypower) to get a win in Germany, while Bayern are available at 7/4 (Ladbrokes). We think this match might end up all square and so we’re going for a draw 13/5 (Skybet). Franck Ribery is our selection to be first goalscorer at 9/1 (Bet365).
