The Premiership Kick Off

We’re going to look mainly at the Premiership games this weekend and give you our idea of who are going to be the winners on the first day.

Defending Champions Manchester United start their campaign with a match at home against Newcastle. United will be looking to start with a convincing win and there’s nothing that we’ve seen from Newcastle pre-season to make us believe that won’t happen.

United are 2/7 (VCbet) and although long odds on still look decent value. We’re predicting a 2-0 scoreline 11/2 (Skybet).

Arsenal are at home to new boys West Brom and judging by their performance in Europe midweek you’d be crazy to back against them. At 3/10 (Partybets) they may not provide a lot of value but they look a banker bet. At 7/1 (Coral) we think the 3-0 correct score could be worth taking and we think Adebayor at 7/2 (VCbet) could be the first goalscorer.

Liverpool are away to Sunderland and could find it hard to win here. Sunderland put in some decent performances at home last season and we think they can get a draw 13/5 (Bodog). Liverpool struggled in midweek against FC Twente and on that performance look as if they would have to improve to get an away win 3/4 (Paddypower).

Chelsea have an exceptional home record and should be too strong for Portsmouth. The home win 1/3 (Ladbrokes) isn’t a great price and there is more value in taking the Chelsea to win by 2 goals at 11/4 (Paddypower).

In the rest of the games West Ham at home to Wigan should be a home win at 2/5 (Bodog).

We think newly promoted Stoke could get a point at Bolton and think they’re decent value at 9/4 (Partybets) to get the draw.

Everton have decent home record and while we don’t think there will be a lot in it we’re going for them to edge out Blackburn and are going for the home win Evens (VCbet). We fancy a 1-0 correct score in this one at 34/5 (Betfair).

Hull can get off to a winning start at home to Fulham and we think the 6/4 (Skybet) is a decent price.

W’e’re going to go for draws in the other two matches, Middlesbrough v Spurs 12/5 (VCbet) and Villa v Manchester City 9/4 (Partybets)
