Monday ‘s Football- Liverpool to Nail Hammers

Liverpool only need a point to regain top spot in the Premier League, but we think they will get all three points against West Ham at Anfield.

All the stats point to a Liverpool win tonight and even although they are as short as 1/4 (Bodog) to win, backing anything other than a Liverpool win would seem to be foolish. Liverpool haven’t lost a league goal at home in over five hours of football, they are unbeaten in the league at home in eighteen matches, they haven’t lost to West Ham in 35 matches at Anfield and can boast a home record against London teams that hasn’t seen them lose at home to any of them for three years-so you can see why the stats point to a Liverpool win.

West Ham have only one win in eight matches and that came against Sunderland who are hardly a side in form at present and having only managed two goals against Liverpool at Anfield in their last six visits we can’t really make any case for the Hammers tonight even at odds of 12/1 (Coral).

With Liverpool long odds on to win we think there are other bets that offer better value than the straight win bet and have to be worth considering.

Liverpool are 5/6 (Ladbrokes) to win to nil. They also look a decent price in the half-time/full-time betting at 16/5 (Partybets) for a draw/Liverpool result.

We’re going for a 3-0 correct score 8/1 (VCbet) tonight and tipping Steven Gerrard to be first goalscorer at 11/2 (Paddypower). Xabi Alonso 11/2 (Paddypower) to score anytime is also a bet that looks decent value.

Third placed Reading are at home to Coventry City in the Championship tonight chasing a win that will see them consolidate their third place.

Reading have only lost once at home all season and that came in their last match at home against lowly Southampton. They then drew away at Cardiff and with Coventry looking for their third away win on the trot Reading don’t look terrific value at 8/15 (Partybets) and we think this will be a close game.

Coventry are not without a chance tonight as they have only lost one of their last five league matches ay Reading and we wouldn’t try and put anyone of from backing them at 6/1 (Bet365).

Reading very rarely fail to score at home and the over 2.5 goals could be worth taking at 8/11 (VCbet). We’re taking the match to end in a draw tonight 7/2 (Betfair) with a little bet on the 2-2 correct score 16/1 (Ladbrokes).

Kevin Doyle is always worth backing as first goaslcorer and he is 4/1 (Skybet) to get the first goal tonight.
