Pre-Season Friendlies 21-22 July

Monday 21July

Of the games taking place tonight we think Burnley could be the best bet at 11/10 (Partybets). They play Partick Thistle in the second game of their Scottish mini-tour and after getting a 1-1 draw against Queen of the South on Saturday, Burnley should strip much fitter for this one and we think they’ll win.

Also in Scotland Aberdeen should get the better of Brechin tonight at Glebe Park. Aberdeen have had a couple of friendly matches now and they are confidently expected to beat their 2nd Division opponents. Aberdeen are 1/2 (Bet365) a decent price in our opinion.

Bristol City to win at Yoevil looks a good bet at Evens (Bet365) and is worth taking at the price.

Tuesday 22 July

One price that sticks out like a sore thumb is Eintracht Frankfurt 13/10 (Coral) to beat Wigan. The Bundesliga side may not be on a par with Bayern or even Schalke, but despite a mid table finish last season they are very good side and we can’t see Wigan 6/4 (Coral) being good enough to beat them.

Glasgow Rangers play Clyde tonight and with Rangers likely to field a young team there could be value in taking a chance with Clyde. Clyde are 7/1 to win and 10/3 to get the draw (Coral) and they are both worth considering.

Preston North End play hosts to Everton and with Everton having a poor result against Cambridge it could pay to side with Preston. Like Everton Preston are more workmanlike than flamboyant, but they are hard to beat and Everton’s display on Saturday showed they are a long way short of being ready for the new season. The 45/17 (Betfair) for a Preston win is worth taking and a 2-1 win for Preston 11/1 (Coral) also looks decent value.

We expect Manchester United 8/15 (Betfair) to beat Orlando Pirates in their second friendly match. The US team won’t be as good a side as Kaizer Chiefs and we can see United rattling in one or two goals in this one. Orlando Pirates are 7/1 (Paddypower) to win and the draw is 10/3 (Coral). We’re going for a 3-0 United win at 11/1 (Paddypower) and think the over 2.5 goals 13/8 (Betfair) could be worth taking.

Hull can beat Chesterfield 3/5 (Betfair) and we’re going for the Celtic v Middlesboro match to end in a draw 12/5 (Coral), with a 1-1 scoreline 11/2 (Coral).
