Olympic Football Betting- Argentina v Brazil

The Olympic football competitions for both men and women have reached the latter stages and the in the men’s competition two of the tournament favourites Argentina and Brazil will meet in the semi-final tomorrow.

Before that you still have time to get a bet on the second women’s semi-final today between USA and Japan

The defending Olympic champions USA have recovered from an indifferent start to no be only two games away from defending their title. The USA BEAT Canada 2-1 after extra time in the Quarter Finals to progress to today’s match and are 3/5 (Bet365) to beat Japan today.

History would seem to point to a victory today for the USA team. They have played Japan four times previously in the World Cup and Olympics and remain unbeaten having scored 10 goals and conceded one. The teams met earlier in this competition in the group matches and the USA ran out narrow 1-0 winners, although Japan did miss a few good goalscoring opportunities during the game.

This isn’t going to be easy game for the USA TODAY AS Japan have improved with every game and have had some impressive results including a 5-1 win against a strong Norway team and an impressive 2-0 victory against host nation China.

We think Japan are hugely overpriced at 8/1 (Skybet) to win the match and have to be worth a small stake at such a big price. We’re taking Japan to win and think they can win 2-1 16/1 (Bet365)

Men’s Semi-Finals

As we mentioned earlier there’s a great match in prospect between Argentina and Brazil in the men’s competition. Argentina are the defending champions and we think they seem to be a decent price at 11/8 (Paddypower) to win the game against the Brazilians. Of the two teams it’s probably Argentina that have turned in the best performances to date.

Argentina needed extra-time before beating Holland 2-1 in the Quarter-Finals in a close match, but class eventually shone through with a winning goal in the first period of extra-time. Argentine have looked good in most of their matches and the only criticism is they sometimes haven’t gone for the kill when the game has been there for the taking.

Brazil also needed extra-time to reach the semi’s and were involved in a tough bad tempered match against Cameroon that saw one red card and 10 yellows dished out during the game. Brazil eventually won 2-0 but they have looked a little lacklustre in most of their matches and they will have to improve if they are to trouble Argentina.

Brazil are 17/10 (VCbet) to beat Argentina, but we can’t see that happening. We’re going for Argentina to win 2-0 10/1 (Paddypower)

In the other Semi-Final Nigeria will meet surprise team of the tournament Belgium. Belgium beat Italy in the Quarter-final and they could go all the way to the final. Belgium are 17/10 (Ladbrokes) to beat Nigeria and look capable of doing so.

Nigeria are big strong physical team with a lot of skill and will be a tough test for Belgium. Nigeria are slight favourites at 5/4 (Paddypower) to win the match but it will be close. We think Belgium can reach the final, but it may need more than 90 minutes for them to beat Nigeria. We’re going to go for a draw therefore at 11/5 (Bet365).
