Next Birmingham Manager Odds
Billy Davies leads the betting of the next Birmingham manager odds after being sacked at Nottingham Forest on the same day that Alex McLeish quit. Coincidentally, McLeish now leads the odds for the next Aston Villa manager.
Davies was let go by Nottingham Forest after leading them to two straight Championship playoffs, but failed at promotion both times. After butting heads with the Nottingham Forest board over transfer funds, a move to Birmingham would be good for him with signing expected for a return to the Premier League.
Chris Hughton also has good odds to become the next Birmingham boss after leading Newcastle to the Premiership. Former West Ham manager Alan Curbishley would be a fan favourite as a former Blues player from the early 1980s. He was at Charlton for 15 years and got them to the Premier League but hasn’t been coaching since his resignation from West Ham in 2008.
Roberto Di Matteo knows how to play at the Midlands after coaching West Brom. He also has promotion experience and was let go by West Brom last year after struggling in the top tier. Martin O’Neill would be a surprise move as a former Aston Villa manager. Former Cardiff boss Daves Jones is being linked to many available jobs but hasn’t gained promotion in three playoffs with Cardiff.
There are a lot of names being thrown around for the open Birmingham head but the new manager will have his hands full with the expected sale of many key players like Scott Danns.
