Football Betting Monday and Tuesday
Domestic and European football both feature in our bets today with two English games taking place tonight and Champions League fixtures taking place tomorrow.
Monday
Premier League action tonight is the match between Newcastle and Aston Villa. Newcastle have shown a lot of fighting spirit under Joe Kinnear since his arrival, but they will have a tough task on their hands tonight to contain a Villa side who have scored nine goals in their last three games.
Newcastle won their last home match against West Brom, but despite that win they now find themselves bottom of the table and that added pressure may be reflected in their play tonight. They are 19/10 (Partybets) to win tonight, but they don’t look great value to us at that price.
Villa are unbeaten in three games and they have enough pace up front to trouble the Newcastle defence. We’re going for a Villa win at 7/5 (Paddypower). A bet on the 2-1 correct score 9/1 (Skybet) can give a return on your money. Gareth Barry to be the first goalscorer looks to be a decent bet at 12/1 (Bet365).
In the Championship Birmingham look set to get a win against Coventry to keep up their title challenge. Birmingham do have a lot of injuries going into tonight’s match, but they appear to have a large enough squad to cope with this.
Coventry are without a win in six away matches and with Birmingham only losing two goals at home in their seven matches we think Coventry could fail to find the net tonight.
Coventry have also failed to score on their last two visits to St Andrew’s and Birmingham to win to nil 7/5 (Paddypower) looks a decent bet.
It’s a Birmingham win for us 8/13 (Coral) and we’re going for a 2-0 correct score at 36/5 (Betfair).
Champions League
A win for Liverpool against Atletico Madrid would see them qualify from the group stages and after getting a 1-1 draw in Madrid a win looks possible. Liverpool are 3/5 (Partybets) to take the points and we advise getting on at that price.
We’re going for a correct score of 2-0 6/1 (Ladbrokes).
Chelsea are away to Roma who have already lost two of their three matches and really need to win if they are to qualify. Roma did okay against Chelsea two weeks ago before going down 1-0, but Chelsea still haven’t lost a goal yet in the competition and Roma will need to be at their very best to penetrate such a stubborn defence.
Roma are quite attractively priced at 5/2, but we don’t see them beating Chelsea. The draw has to be worth considering at 23/10 (Paddypower), but we’re going for a Chelsea win 6/5 (Skybet) and a correct score of 1-0 6/1 (Partybets).
CFR Cluj 6/5 (Ladbrokes) can get a home win against Bordeaux and Werder Bremen can see off Panathinaikos at odds of 4/9 (Bet365).
