Monday Night Football-West Ham v Spurs
Premier League
West Ham play hosts to Spurs tonight in a match that we think will be extremely close.
Ex-West Ham boss Harry Redknapp has rejuvenated Spurs and they have only suffered two defeats in their last nine matches. After a six match run that saw them only pick up one point, West Ham have put together three decent performances winning one and drawing the other two. They have kept three clean sheets in these last three games and another tonight could be enough to see them take all three points.
This is quite a difficult game to call as West Ham despite decent results recently haven’t managed to win at home in their last four matches. Spurs are pretty much the same. While their form has improved drastically they have still only managed to win once away from home this season.
With neither team seemingly having a great advantage the draw 11/5 (Partybets) must come into play and could be the bet worth taking. Tottenham’s inability to keep a clean sheet away from home is a worry especially with West Ham not conceding goals at present. Spurs (or should we say their goalkeeper) are always liable to gift the opposition a goal and we think it might be difficult for them to score two or more goals against West Ham tonight.
With that fact in mind Spurs 8/5 (Paddypower) don’t look such a good bet to get a win considering their lack of away wins.
West Ham are 7/4 (Coral) to win and that price is probably a decent reflection on their chances given their form at home.
With all three results of home, away and draw likely outcomes we wouldn’t advise any heavy bets on the result of this match. Despite West Ham having kept three consecutive clean sheets we do think there will be goals in this match and the over 2.5 goals 4/5 (VCbet) is a bet we’d consider placing.
The half-time/full-time results of West Ham/Draw 14/1(Bet365) and Tottenham/draw 14/1 (VCbet) could both be worth covering for a small stake where the draw looks a possibility.
Our selection is the draw and a correct score of 2-2 14/1 (Partybets) is where we’ll be having a small flutter.
Mark Noble at 16/1 (Paddypower) makes some appeal in the first goalscorer market as far as West Ham are concerned and Aaron Lennon 18/1 (Coral) could be on target at a nice price for Spurs.
Championship
Crystal Palace have pretty solid form at present with only one defeat in their last six matches. They are at home to Southampton who have been in decent away form lately (unbeaten in their last three matches) and a close encounter looks in prospect here.
We’re going to side with Palace 10/13 (Bodog) mainly because they have home advantage. Southampton are 7/2 (Partybets) and if you fancy the Saints to continue their decent away form we definitely wouldn’t put you off backing them at that price.
The draw is available at 13/5 (Coral) and with five of the last eight meetings between the clubs ending all square this bet also has to be given serious consideration.
Palace’s current home form of three games without defeat is our deciding factor in taking them to win tonight and as they always look capable of scoring goals at home we think they may just shade it.
We’re going for a 2-1 correct score to Palace at 7/1 (Paddypower).
