Intertoto & Freindly Football Bets

Football betting opportunities this weekend are dominated once again by pre-season friendlies. But there are some competitive matches taking place in the Intertoto Cup and we’re starting with a look at some of these fixtures to see if we can pick out some winning selections.

Intertoto Cup

There are some decent teams playing in the competition this weekend and we’re going to begin by looking at Premiership Aston Villa and their match with Danish side OB.

OB have already beaten Lisburn and TPS from Turkey to reach the third round and have scored 10 goals in their four matches in the competition, so they look capable of scoring goals. Villa are far tougher opponents than they have previously faced and even although this is Villa’s first match in the competition they look capable of getting a result in Denmark and are definitely worth backing at 11/10 (Coral).

OB are 5/2 (Bet365) to win and although we think this could be quite a close match we’re going for an Aston Villa win. With OB having scored in every game so far we’re predicting a 2-1 win for Villa 15/2 (Paddypower).

Elfsborg knocked out SPL side Hibernian in the last round 4-0 on aggregate and they shouldn’t have too many problems in beating Latvians FK Riga, who beat Bohemians of Ireland on away goals in the last round.Elfsborg are 2/7 (Skybet) and showed enough against Hibs to convince us they can win comfortably. A 3-0 correct score for Elsborg is 7/1 (Coral) and is worth a small stake.

We like the odds on Deportiva to win in Israel against Sakhnin. They are 8/11 (Partybets) and we think that’s a great price for a team with plenty of European experience. The half-time/full-time result of Draw/Deportivo at 10/3 (Paddypower) is also recommended.

Greek side Panionios are at home to Napoli and while Greece is no easy place to visit and get a result we think it’s worth a bet on Napoli 5/4 (Bet365) to do just that.

Friendly Matches

There’s a whole host of friendly matches this weekend and we think we’ve spotted some value in a couple of them. Scottish champions Celtic are the visitors to Craven Cottage to play Fulham and with the Scottish season set to start earlier than the Premier League we reckon Celtic might be a bit in front of Fulham as far as fitness is concerned and think they are a decent price at 6/4 (Coral).

Celtic to win 3-1 at 33/1 (Paddypower) looks like a huge price for a team we know are capable of scoring goals and it can be worth taking a chance on this correct score.

MK Dons are a decent side, but Reading still have a lot of quality despite being relegated from the Premiership last season and the 6/5 (Skybet) on them winning at Milton Keynes has to be worth backing as we’d have expected them to be odds on.

QPR can beat Stevenage and at only 8/15 (Coral) they must be one of the bets of the weekend.

There’s not a lot of value in Arsenal 1/4 (Paddypower) to win at Arsenal or in Newcastle 17/35 (Betfair) to beat Hartlepool but they both look bankers and could be worth including if placing multiples.

Wycombe are a decent price of 6/5 (Coral) to beat Forest Green and we’re going for a bit of value in our last selection and are taking Rangers to beat Shalke at 3/1 (Skybet).
