International Friendly Matches Monday-Tuesday
There is a game tonight featuring two teams who haven’t qualified for the Euro 2008 Championships. Finland take on Belarus in a friendly in preparation for their World Cup Qualifiers this autumn. With only one win from their last eight matches (a 2-1 home win over Azerbaijan) Finland don’t look to be great value at 8/11 (Partybets). They did have creditable 0-0 draws with Poland, Portugal and Spain last year, but in their three games in 2008 they have lost to Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey.
Belarus have recently had good 2-2 draws with both Turkey and Germany and we think at 9/2 (Bet365) they could be worth betting on here to get a win over Finland. A 2-1 correct score win for Belarus is currently 16/1 (Bet365) and is worth a small stake.
France play Colombia tomorrow night hoping for a win to send them on their way to the 2008 Euro’s in Switzerland/Austria in good heart. It’s likely that France will field a strong team in this match and they will be given a good test by the Colombians.
Colombia lost by a goal to nil against Ireland at Craven Cottage at the weekend, but were extremely unlucky to do so. Colombia played some excellent quick passing attacking football and only a combination of poor finishing, last ditch defending and a great display by Ireland goalkeeper Dean Kiely kept the South American’s at bay. Colombia dominated the match against the Irish and if they can find a bit of luck in front of goal tonight are capable of giving the French a good game.
Both France and Colombia look to attack and this could lead to a few goals. The 10/11 (Betfair) for over 2.5 goals looks interesting and could be worth taking.
France have played five friendlies in 2008 winning two drawing two and losing only one. They comfortably beat Ecuador 2-0 last week with debutant Bafetimbi Gomes scoring the two goals after coming on as a substitute. Gomes is quoted at 7/1 (Ladbrokes) to open the scoring tomorrow night and we think it could pay to have a small stake at this price.
France are 2/5 (VCbet) to win the game and while we think this may be a close match we do think France will run out winners. The 8/1 (Partybets) for a 2-1 win to France looks decent value and is the correct score bet we’re going for.
