Football Betting Monday & Tuesday

A few football games are taking place over the next couple of days and we’ve picked out some bets we believe offer a bit of value and a chance of a return on your stake.

Monday 29th

The big game tonight is the clash between Manchester United and Middlesbrough at Old Trafford. While United were way playing in the World Club Championships all their title rivals were slipping up in one way or another and United now have three games in hand of their rivals and winning them would put them right back in contention in the title race.

They can start to close the gap on the leaders tonight by taking all three points against Middlesbrough. It’s only goal difference that’s keeping Middlesbrough out of the bottom three at present and Old Trafford isn’t really the place you’d want to be visiting when you are without a win in seven games.

With three draws and a win apiece in the last five fixtures between the teams played at Old Trafford, it’s no foregone conclusion that United will get the win, if the stats are to be believed. At 16/1 (Bodog) Middlesbrough do look a bit overpriced given their decent form at Old Trafford, but they have put in so many poor performances recently that it’s hard to find a positive to merit backing them even at such a huge price.

United have been pretty formidable at home, with only Hull and Newcastle being able to score against them. United are long odds on favourites at 1/5 (Partybets) and it would be a brave man who would bet against them.

A 2-0 win for United at odds of 4/1 (Partybets) has to be worth a punt.

In the Championship Blackpool are at home to league leaders Wolves and seem to have a tough task on their hands to take anything at all from the game. Blackpool haven’t won in four games and only managed to score twice in these four games. With Wolves normally scoring away from home-they have only failed to score in one away match this season-it looks likely they will get their noses in front here and it’s unlikely Blackpool will be able to peg them back.

Wolves are Evens (Ladbrokes) and that looks an amazingly good price to us. We like the odds on a 3-1 win for Wolves at 20/1 (Betfair).Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is our pick to be first goalscorer and he is available at 5/1 (Paddypower).

Tuesday 30th

Aston Villa could go back into third place in the Premiership if they can get a win away at Hull. Villa do look as if they are capable of mounting a serious challenge this season and they are currently on  run that has seen them go seven games without defeat including winning their last three away games.

Hull can’t seem to pick up a win at the moment and although they have only lost two of their last seven games, they have shipped nine goals in their last two matches and signs aren’t good.

It looks as if Villa will be too good going forward for Hull and we have to go for a Villa win at 5/6 (Bodog). The 4-1 correct score is available at 50/1 (Partybets) and we reckon it could be worth a small stake at that price. Try a bet on Gareth Barry 14/1 (Skybet) to be first goalscorer.
