Weekend Football-Chelsea v Liverpool

Premier League

The big match in the Premier League this weekend is the Chelsea v Liverpool fixture. This will be a test of Liverpool’s credentials to mount a serious challenge for the title this season and they will have to overcome the fantastic home record Chelsea have if they are to prove they are up to the challenge.

Liverpool have only won one of their last eight meetings with Chelsea and haven’t managed a goal in their last four visits to Stamford Bridge. The last two meetings between the clubs have ended in a draw and with Liverpool going into the match with an unbeaten away record this season and a team who look as if they could be real contenders for the title; we believe they do have better chance than in previous visits.

Chelsea are 21/10 to win the match with Liverpool priced at 4/1 (Ladbrokes). We’re going to go for the draw 12/5 (Coral) and think it will end 1-1 11/2 (Skybet).

Everton take on Manchester United and an away win for the Reds looks likely. Everton haven’t been at their best recently while United seem to be hitting top form. United have only lost once in the last nine matches with Everton and at only 4/7 (Ladbrokes.com) must be one of the bets of the day.

We’re going for a 4-1 win for United 20/1 (Partybets) and think berbatov could be worth backing at 6/1 (Coral) to be the first goalscorer.

In other Premier League fixtures Hull could be worth backing to get a win at West Brom at 2/1 (Bodog). Bolton could also be worth taking away at Tottenham given the home side’s current form and they are 3/1 (Paddypower).

Championship

Birmingham are back on top of the table and they can stay there with a home win against Sheffield Wednesday. Four of Birmingham’s five home wins have ended in a 1-0 win and it would be no surprise if that was the scoreline tomorrow.

Our pick is Birmingham to win 8/13 (Totesport) with a bet on the 1-0 correct score 6/1 (bet365) worth taking.

Burnley have been in good form recently with only one defeat in their last nine games. .They can take advantage of Charlton’s indifferent home record and we’re going for Burnley to win at odds of 15/8 (Coral). A bet on a 2-1 correct score 10/1 (Skybet) could pay dividends.

League Two

Our best bet in League Two is Bury to win at home against Luton. The 5/6 (Partybets) looks a fair price even if Bury haven’t won any of their last three home matches as Luton’s away record is every bit as bad with no wins in their last four away matches.

Scotland

Rangers travel to SPL new boys Hamilton and after a slip up to St Mirren in their last game Rangers should get a win to keep them in touch with rivals Celtic. Hamilton started the season well, but they have los their last three matches and although they may offer some resistance to Rangers we can’t see them taking anything from the game.

Back Rangers at 7/20 (Partybets) with a bet on a 4-1 win 18/1 (Paddypower) worth a small stake. Kris Boyd could be among the goals and is worth backing at 4/1 (www.bet365.com) to be the first goalscorer

Dundee have had a terrible run of form and haven’t managed a win in seven matches. They visit bottom club Morton and we reckon Morton could be worth backing at 5/2 (Skybet) to get a win.
