FA CUP Third Round Matches

The third round usually throws up one or two shock results and we’re hoping we can pick out some at decent odds today.

Charlton are without a win in 16 games and although Norwich are no world beaters away from home at 2/1 (Partybets) Norwich look a decent price.

Portsmouth haven’t looked great recently and we’re going for an upset and are taking Bristol City to get a win in this match. Bristol City have been out of form for a while, but two victories in their last two games will have put them in good heart for this match and they look worth chancing at 11/2 (Paddypower).

Watford have struggled so far this season in the league and they could be set for a tough match against Scunthorpe. Scunthorpe have won half of their away league matches and are going well in League Two.  A winning habit is a good thing to have and with only one defeat in seven games we’re going with the team in form and backing Scunthorpe at 13/4 (Bodog) to get the win.

There’s an all Premier league clash when Hull take on Newcastle at home. We’re still not convinced Newcastle are out of the woods yet and defensively they look poor ( apart from goalkeeper Given who has been outstanding) and make too many mistakes. Hull’s form has dipped recently, but they put in a good performance against Villa in their last league game and they can make home advantage pay against the Magpies.

We’re taking Hull to win at 7/5 (VCbet). A correct score bet of 2-1 17/2(Bet365) could be worthwhile.

Fulham are in great form at present and while Sheffield Wednesday will be no pushover sat home, we believe Fulham will come out in top. Fulham are a decent price at 11/10 (Partybets) and we’re going for them to win 2-0 10/1 (Skybet). Jimmy Bullard at 12/1 (Coral) is our selection as firs goalscorer.

We’re selecting draws in the ties between Sunderland v Bolton 9/4 (Bodog), Hartlepool v Stoke 12/5 (Partybets), Leicester v Crystal Palace 9/4 (Coral) and Torquay v Blackpool 12/5 (Bodog).

We expect the big four all to win and think Liverpool at 2/5 (Bodog) are the only ones at a price worth backing. Liverpool should beat Preston and the correct score of 3-1 12/1(Partybets) is our tip. Dirk Kuyt at 11/2 (Paddypower) is our tip to be first goalscorer.

Sheffield United 4/5 (Bodog), Everton 1/3 (Partybets) and Doncaster 6/5 (VCbet) all look capable of winning away from home.

We’re going for Birmingham to come out on top in their match with Wolves. Birmingham are 11/8 (Ladbrokes) and we’re tipping a 1-0 correct score 7/1 (Coral) with James McFadden as first goalscorer at 7/1 (Paddypower).
