Chelsea v Tottenham Preview
Chelsea and Tottenham’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on Saturday is crucial to both sides. Chelsea continue to pressure Manchester United at the top of the table, while the Spurs battle Manchester City for fourth place. Chelsea are the favourites to beat Tottenham.
Chelsea are just six point behind United and travel to face them next weekend. A win over Tottenham would draw them closer and extend their nine match unbeaten run in the Premiership. The £50 million Fernando Torres finally scored last weekend in the 3-0 win over West Ham. With the weight lifted, he has 9/2 odds at Paddy Powder to score first against Tottenham. Florent Malouda also scored last weekend to bring his league total to 13 goals. He has scored four in his last four times out, and 11 at Stamford Bridge, so he is a good bet to score anytime with 15/8 odds at Paddy Powder.
The Blues will likely be without Ramires and Alex because of injuries, but Michael Essien is expected to make a return. Chelsea have scored in each of their last eight fixtures, with the last three going over 2.5 goals. The same can be said on the last three matches for Tottenham.
Spurs are fifth and four points short of City. They need to make something happen for a shot at Champions League football next season. They haven’t won at Stamford Bridge in 21 years and have only one win in their last nine matches overall. They managed a 1-1 draw against Chelsea earlier this season. Tottenham are coming off a 2-2 draw to West Brom. Roman Pavlyuchenko scored and could be worth backing to score anytime with 11/4 odds at Paddy Powder.
Chelsea should stay in contention for a Premier League title with a win here, which would put Tottenham’s top four hopes in serious jeopardy.
