Champions League Qualifiers–Who’ll Go through?
Teams are back in action in the Champions League qualifying rounds tonight and we’ve selected what we think are the best bets from the second –leg ties being played tonight.
IFK Gothenburg of Sweden demolished Murata -the minnows from San Marino- 5-0 away from home and they could run up a cricket score tonight if they decide to go for it. As you can imagine the prices are way odds on for Gothenburg to win tonight 1/25 (Ladbrokes) being the best price available. With the best prices for a four, five and six nil victory as short as 6/1 (Ladbrokes) the value could be in the Swedish side coasting through a tie that is already won, so we’re going for the 1-0 win 11/1 (Ladbrokes).
If you think they can score more goals than they did in the first match 7-0 11/1, 8-0 20/1 and 10-0 50/1 are all available at Ladbrokes.
Anorthosis of Cyprus take a slender 1-0 lead to Armenia in their match with FC Pyunik but they totally dominated the game in Cyprus hitting the woodwork three times and missing a host of chances. If they can turn the chances they created in the first match into goals they should be easy winners. They are 23/20 (Bet365) and we just can’t see them not winning tonight given how they played in the first-leg. Anorthosis at 8/1 (Ladbrokes) to win 2-0 looks worth a bet.
Icelandic side Valur look to have it all to do in their match against FC Bate from Belarus. The trail 2-0 from the first leg in a match where the home side dominated and they could be looking at defeat again tonight. This match could be close but the 6/4 (Partybets) on offer for Bate to win looks very tempting and that is where our money is going.
We also think there’s a bit of value in taking Finnish side Tampere to win in Montenegro against Buducnost. They Finnish side take a 2-1 lead into the game after losing a late goal in the first match. The away goal for the Montenegro team does put a different complexion on the second-leg as a 1-0 win would see them through. But Tampere rarely looked in trouble in the first match and we believe they can win tonight. At 11/4 (Skybet) they look a decent price and the 2-1 correct score could pay dividends at 12/1 (Ladbrokes)
Irish side Drogheda hold a 2-1 lead from the first match against Levadia and although they go to Estonia knowing a 1-0 defeat would put them out, we’re quietly confident they can get an away goal tonight and go through. The draw tonight is 9/4 (Partybets) and is an outcome that has to be considered, but we’re going for a win for Drogheda at 12/5 (VCbet). We think a 1-0 win for Drogheda could be worth a bet at 17/2 (Paddypower).
The Champions League qualifying rounds continue tonight and we’ve picked out some bets that look as if they will yield a return.
Pyunik of Armenia are looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg match against Anorthosis of Cyprus. No Cypriot team has ever qualified for the group stages of the Champions League, but they have been getting closer with teams failing at the final qualifying stage in recent seasons. This should be quite a tight match but the price of 5/4 (Sporting bet) for Anorthios to win looks worth backing. Anorthios may just sneak this and the 1-0 win 5/1 (Ladbrokes) is where we’re putting our money.
Eirecom Irish League side Drogheda had a good 2-1 win in the first leg against Levadia and they will be looking for a good result in Estonia to progress to the next round. A victory for Drogheda would see them meet Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev in the next round and that should be incentive enough for Drogheda to win tonight.
A 2-1 lead isn’t the best score for Drogheda to be taking into an away game as a single goal would see them eliminated, but scoring an away goal is not beyond them. We’re going for a draw 11/5 (William Hill) with a 1-1 score 5/1 (Ladbrokes)
Dinamo Zagreb were far too good a side for Linfield last week in Ireland and they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory without ever looking in any danger. On their performance last week they looked more than capable of racking up a big score and the 4-0 13/2 and 5-0 12/1 correct score bets (Both Paddypower) are worth considering.
The win for Dinamo Zagreb is a best priced 1/9 (Betfred) and there’s a little more value in taking the half-time/full time result of Dinamo/Dinamo at 3/10 (Paddypower)
Slovakian side Artmedia-who Celtic fans will remember as the team who beat them 5-0 in a qualifying match in Gordon Strachan’s first Euro tie as manager- take a 2-0 lead into their home tie against Valletta. Artmedia are the only Slovakian side to have qualified for the group stages of the competition and they could qualify again this season.
The price of 1/9 (William Hill) probably doesn’t reflect the chances of Artmedia as a win looks to be a certainty. With the tie basically already won they might not go all out tonight and we’re picking the correct score of 2-0 5/1 (Ladbrokes) as the probable outcome.
Bosnian side Modrica scored two late goals to win in Albania against a Dinamo Tirana side who squandered a host of chances in the match. If Dinamo can convert the chances they make then this game could be far from over and we’re going to take a chance on them winning in Bosnia. The 2/1 (Ladbrokes) look worth taking and we think they’ll sneak a win even though it may not be enough to see them go through to the next round.
