Champions League Matches-Take Liverpool to beat Atletico.
Liverpool travel to Spain to face Atletico Madrid tonight with both teams sitting on six points at the top of the group after their first two matches. Liverpool will be without the injured Fernando Torres for the match tonight, but we think they can still go and get a win in Madrid tonight.
Liverpool are in good form with five consecutive wins while Atletico go into the match tonight on the back of three defeats. The three defeats have arguably come against three top sides, Seville, Real and Barcelona, but the defeats to Seville and Real were at home, while the away defeat at Barcelona was a 6-0 thrashing.
Atletico’s European form has been good, but their domestic form leaves a lot to be desired and they are only in 8th position in the league with nine points from a possible twenty-one. They seem to struggle against top sides at the moment and Liverpool’s European experience may be too much for Atletico.
Liverpool are 7/4 (Partybets) to win tonight and that looks a good price to be taking. A 2-0 win at 12/1 (Paddypower) is our correct score selection and with Fernando Torres out injured Dirk Kuyt 10/1 (Bet365) looks a decent bet to be the first goalscorer.
Roma are the visitors to Stamford Bridge tonight and although they are a decent side, we don’t expect Chelsea to slip up in this match. Roma aren’t one of the top sides in the competition and while Italian teams always have to be respected, Chelsea have looked formidable this season and a home win 20/53(Bodog) is the only outcome we can see.
Chelsea’s record at home is exceptional and they always look capable of scoring goals. We’re putting some of our hard earned money on a 3-0 win 9/1 (Ladbrokes).
Frank Lampard 5/1 (Coral) has to be worth considering in the first goalscorer betting.
In the other match in Chelsea’s group FC Cluj of Romania 13/4 (Bodog) look to be a decent price to get a win in France against Bordeaux.
Bordeaux have been well beaten by Chelsea and Roma in their first two matches and wit Cluj getting a win away in Rome and a good draw at home against Chelsea they have proved they are a decent side and are definitely not the whipping boys of the group. A repeat of their first two performances should be enough o get a win tonight and we’re going for a 2-1 correct score at 35/2 (Betfair).Take Yssouf Kone at 3/1 (Coral) to score anytime.
Inter Milan look- on paper at least- to have an easy task against Anorthosis of Cyprus. Anorthosis have been a revelation in this competition so far however with a 0-0 draw against Werder Bremen followed by a 3-1 win at home to Panathinaikos and they thoroughly deserve to go into tonight’s match as joint top group leaders with Inter.
Inter have a good home record in Champions league matches, but Jose Mourinho’s side didn’t look too convincing in their 1-1 home draw with Bremen last time out and they could be on the wrong end of an upset if they take their Cypriot rivals too lightly.
Inter are long odds on at 1/6 (Partybets) and they don’t appear to be value at that price. It would be a major upset if Anorthosis were to take something from the game .but given their form they look to be overpriced at 18/1 (Paddypower) to get a win. We’re severely tempted to take them at this price, but instead we’re taking the draw at 11/2 (Partybets).
Barcelona look to be a banker to get an away win at Basel 4/9 (Bet365) and Werder Bremen 7/5 (Ladbrokes) should also get an away win in Greece and a Panathinaikos side who have looked pretty ordinary so far in the competition..
