Champions League Matches-Arsenal v Twente
The third Qualifying round of the Champions League starts tonight and there are a lot of interesting ties. Some big named teams are making their first appearance in the competition this season including, Juventus, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona
Arsenal are away to FC Twente of Holland who are now managed by Steve McLaren the ex-Middlesbrough and England manager. He has been quite upbeat about the chances of his side and he reckons they have nothing to lose and are under no pressure as Arsenal are firm favourites to win the tie. Arsenal are 8/15 (Partybets) to win tonight, but we reckon anyone thinking of having a bet at that price should be cautious. Arsenal are missing quite a lot of senior players for the match tonight and they won’t be anywhere near full strength.
We know that Arsenal have a lot of good youngsters they can call upon, but a Champions League tie isn’t the best of competitions to blood untried or less experienced players. With Steve McLaren having a reputation as being cautious, it would be no surprise to us for this game to end in a stalemate tonight. We’re going for the draw 5/2 (Bodog) and think the match could end up in a 0-0 scoreline 11/1(Bet365).
Liverpool are the other Premiership team in action tonight and they are hot favourites at 1/2 (Bodog) to win in Belgium against Standard Liege. We’re looking for Liverpool to take a commanding lead in the first leg and are going for a 3-0 correct score bet at 10/1 (Skybet).
Barcelona are 1/10 (Paddypower) to beat Wisla Krakow and to be honest it doesn’t look worth backing them to win. A better bet may be for Barcelona to win by a 3 goal margin 16/5 (Paddypower), or the 3-0 correct score at 6/1 (VCbet)
Italian side Juventus are also long odds on 1/7 (Coral) to beat Artmedia and we’re going for the 2-0 correct score 5/1 (Ladbrokes) as our selection.
In the other ties being played tonight Fenerbahce at 11/10 (Bodog) to win against Partizan Belgrade, Guimares Evens (Partybets) to beat FC Basel and FC BATE 9/2 (VCbet) could all be worth backing.
