Carling Cup Matches-Tuesday

Carling Cup matches take place tomorrow and we’re previewing the bets we believe have a decent chance of giving you a winning return on your stake.

Arsenal are at home to Wigan and although we can presume Arsenal will continue playing their kids in this competition we still wouldn’t back Wigan to beat them even at odds of 6/1 (Skybet). We’re sticking with the Arsenal youngsters to put in another great performance similar to the one that swept Sheffield United aside 6-0 in the last round.

We don’t expect Arsenal to score six goals against Wigan, but we do expect then to win and they look a decent price at 4/7 (Coral). We’re going for a 2-0 correct score 6/1 (Paddypower).

Derby can bet Leeds United and we think they are a great price at Evens (Ladbrokes). Derby are unbeaten in six home matches and with Leeds losing three of their last five away matches we’re tipping Derby to progress to the next round.

Stoke’s home record in the Premiership is decent and they should be far too powerful for League Two Rotherham. We recommend backing Stoke at 2/5 (Coral) and think a bet on the 4-0 correct score 16/1 (Bet365) could give a nice return.

Swansea beat Watford 3-1 in the league at home only this weekend and what we saw from both teams makes us believe another Swansea win will be the result tonight. While Swansea’s form remains good with only one defeat in eight, the same cannot be said for a Watford team who have lost their last four and seem to be struggling.

Our selection is a home win for Swansea at odds of 5/6 (Paddypower). We’re going for the game to be a little closer than the one at the weekend and we’re tipping the 2-1 correct score in Swansea’s favour at odds of 15/2 (Skybet).

The last match of the night is between Manchester United and QPR at Old Trafford.

It’s debatable just how seriously United take this competition these days. They do use it as an opportunity to blood youngsters, but they have made a couple of exits to lower league teams in this competition in the last couple of seasons.

Last season they were beaten 2-0 at home by Coventry City, the year before they lost away to Southend and we believe they make so many changes in personnel for these ties that any previous for goes out the window.

While United will make changes its highly likely QPR will put out their strongest side and even though they are without a win in five away matches we think at 9/1 (Paddypower) they just might be worth a little bet.

It may pay leaving your bets until you see the likely United team, but 1/5 (Ladbrokes) for United win, if they do play fringe players isn’t a bet we’d be taking.

We’re going for a shock result and are taking QPR to win 2-1 28/1 (Coral).
