Wednesday Football Bets-Watford v Spurs

It was the night of the underdog in last night’s Carling Cup matches, but we don’t expect Watford to pull of a surprise win when Tottenham come visiting tonight.

Watford beat Swansea in the last round, but they are still struggling in the league and have only won one of their last eight league matches. They are unbeaten in their last three home matches however and have scored in every home match this season.

Watford are 18/5 (Partybets) to win tonight, but they look to be up against it against the current holders of the trophy and we don’t hold out much hope of a win.

Tottenham lost 1-0 to Everton at home in the league last weekend, but that was only their second defeat in their last eight matches and they look capable of going to Watford and winning comfortably. Spurs are 8/11 (Coral) to get the win and we’d recommend backing them at that price.

The over 2.5 goals is 8/11 (Paddypower) and that looks an interesting betting proposition. The correct score bets we’re interested in are the 3-1 12/1 (Coral) and 4-1 33/1 (Ladbrokes) wins for Spurs.

Fraizer Campbell 5/1 (Partybets) and Jermaine Jenas 12/1 (Ladbrokes) look decent prices to be the first goalscorer.

Manchester United take on Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford and with Blackburn struggling for form this looks a home win.

United will probably feature a few fringe players in their team tonight, but even at 1/2 (Skybet) we think they are worth backing. United weren’t that convincing in the last round against QPR, but they are still unbeaten at home this season and with Blackburn’s only win in their last ten matches being their victory in the last round of this competition, we have to side with a home win.

Blackburn have only won one of their last six matches against United and in the form they are in at present even the 28/5 (Betfair) price on offer wouldn’t tempt us to back them. Blackburn look like a team lacking in confidence and Old Trafford is no place to go if your heads are going to go down if you lose a goal.

The correct score of 2-0 5/1 (Partybets) looks worth a bet and Ryan Giggs 10/1 (Skybet) could be worth an interest as the first goalscorer.

UEFA Cup

Manchester City are in action tonight in the UEFA Cup at home to PSG and having already qualified for the next stage the pressure will be off city and we think they can turning a good performance against PSG. We’re taking City to win 7/10 (VCBet) and are going for a 3-1 correct score 14/1 (Coral).

Aston Villa are in action tomorrow and look certainties at 2/7 (bet365) to get a win at home to Zilina. We’re going for a 2-0 correct score 5/1 (VCBet).

Portsmouth travel to Germany to play Wolfsburg and really need to win to have any chance of making it through to the next round of the competition. Despite their 2-2 draw with AC Milan we don’t see Portsmouth getting the win they need and we’re going for Wolfsburg to win at attractively priced Evens (Partybets)
