Blackburn v Sunderland Preview

Sunderland and Blackburn play tonight at Ewood Park. Each club is desperate for a win to avoid their downward spiral in the Premier League table. Blackburn currently sits at 16th place in the Premiership with Sunderland just one place above them. The odds suggest a tight match from bookmakers but the wise bet is backing the home side to get the full three points. The draw has the most value and appeal in this match.

Blackburn’s offense has been weak this season with just six goals in seven matches, only three of which at Ewood Park. Their only win at home came against Everton in the first game of the season. Since then, they have drawn with Fulham and were beaten by Arsenal in their other two fixtures. A recovering David Dunn needs to put his injury-riddled career behind him and bring a much-needed spark to Blackburn.

With only one win on the season, it’s the same situation for Sunderland. One thing they have going for them is that they have drawn five of seven matches in the Premier League and have only one loss away from home, which came against West Bromwich. But, the club hasn’t won on the road and hasn’t won in the league since the end of August.

The draw looks solid, especially if Sunderland striker Darren Bent is not playing. He is doubtful to play with a groin injury suffered from training in England. The forward has scored five of Sunderland’s seven goals in the Premiership. The 0-0 draw has good value, but if you’re feeling risky, back the no goalscorer in the first goalscorer betting market to get the extra value should there be an own goal in the match. Don’t look for much offense in this fixture given each club’s record. With that being said, the 2.5 total goals market is worth a look. For a safer bet, back Bent to score first at Ladbrokes since your stake will be returned if he doesn’t play.
