Barcelona v Real Madrid Copa Del Rey Final Preview

The Copa Del Ray final plays Wednesday evening at the Estadio Mestalla in Valencia between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Barcelona are the clear favourite here in a battle of Spanish sides for your football betting.

Barcelona and Real Madrid drew 1-1 at the Bernabeu last weekend. It was their second La Liga match of the season and it kept Barca eight point ahead of the pack at the top of the table. Earlier in the season, they stomped Real 5-0 at the Nou Camp.

Real have 17 Copa Del Rey Cups but they haven’t won it since 1993 and haven’t been in the final since 2004. Barca have won it 25 times and finished runner up nine times. Their last trophy win came in 2009, their first apperance in the Copa Del Rey final in 11 years. This match foreshadows the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at month’s end.

Real boss Jose Mourinho led Inter Milan over Barca in the 2010 Champions League final. Barca didn’t have many scoring chances last weekend in the draw. They scored first from the penalty by Lionel Messi. He has been the top scorer for Barca and has 4/1 odds at Coral to score first. Cristiano Ronaldo then found the back of the net from the penalty spot. He is Real’s leading scorer and has 11/2 odds at Coral to score first.

The Valencia pitch is fast which could suit Barcelona. Former Valencia star David Villa returns to his legendary stomping grounds. With league honours gone in this competition, it will be a battle of pride and Real may want it more against their great rivals.
