Premier League Kick Off- Bank on the big Four to make a Winning Start
The Premier Leagues in England and Scotland start this weekend and we’re concentrating on the best bets from both leagues to get us off to a winning start for the season.
Premier League
We believe the “Big Four” can all get their season off to a winning start by picking up all three points from their matches. Chelsea should be far too good for Hull who look to be certain relegation strugglers if their form from last season carries over into this one.
Chelsea are very short at 1/6 (Coral) but taking them to win to nil 4/6 (Skybet) offers a bit more value and that’s the bet we tip.
We’re tipping a 4-0 win for Chelsea 9/1 (Ladbrokes) and selecting Didier Drogba 4/1 (Paddypower) to be first goalscorer.
Arsenal appear to have the toughest fixture of the big four having to visit Goodison to face Everton. Arsenal have only lost to Everton twice in the last seven meetings however and we think they can get a win at 11/8 (Bet365). The last time these two teams met in the first game of the season Arsenal won 4-1 and we’re taking a chance on a 4-1 win for Arsenal 50/1 (Paddypower) again. Our first goalscorer pick is Andrei Arshavin 15/2 (Paddypower).
Manchester United entertain newly promoted Birmingham and with Birmingham failing to find the net in the last five meetings between the teams at Old Trafford taking United to win to nil 8/11 (Paddypower) looks to be a good option. United are long odds on at 1/5 (Ladbrokes) to win and we can’t see any other result than a home win. A bet we do like the look of in this match is taking Manchester United to win both halves. That bet is available at 6/4 (Skybet) and looks terrific value and looks to be a good betting alternative to the straight win bet.
We’re predicting a 3-0 win for Manchester United 13/2 (Coral) with Michael Owen to grab the first goal 9/2 (Paddypower).
Liverpool won’t find things easy at White Hart Lane, but they have only lost once in their last four visits and we’re going for them to just edge it. The loss of Steven Gerrard through injury will be a blow to the Reds but they appear to be worth backing at 13/10 (Bet365) to get the win.
There have been three 1-1 draws in the last six meetings between Portsmouth and Fulham at Fratton Park. We think that could happen again and so we’re predicting the match to end in a draw 23/10 (Ladbrokes). The 1-1 correct score is available at 11/2 (Bet365) and has to be worth considering.
Wigan have won two of their last four meetings away at Aston Villa and are unbeaten in four at Villa Park. We think Wigan might manage to capture a point from the game and so we’re backing the draw at 11/4 (Bet365). We think there will be a lack of goals in this game and are taking the under 2.5 goals at 5/6 (Paddypower) as one of our bets.
A 0-0 correct score is on offer at 11/1 (Bet365) and could be worth a small stake.
SPL
Celtic travel to Aberdeen for their opening fixture and with both teams having played in European competition there can be no excuses for not being up to speed. Aberdeen were soundly beaten in their Europa League matches and defensively looked vulnerable. That could be bad news against a Celtic team who have looked dangerous going forward and creating lots of chances.
We’re tipping a win for Celtic 4/6 (Skybet). The correct score bet of 3-1 12/1 (Skybet) looks to be a big price and can prove to be a winner.
Rangers should have no problems at home to Falkirk and this could well be a case of how many they will score. We’re predicting a home win for Rangers 1/5 (Ladbrokes) taking them to win to nil 8/11 (Skybet) with a 3-0 scoreline 7/1 (Coral).
