Champions League – Liverpool Can Finish On High
Having failed to qualify for the next phase of the Champions League Liverpool will want to go out on a high note in front of their own fans tonight against Fiorentina.
It’s been a pretty disappointing European campaign (and Premier League season so far) for the Merseysiders whose only two wins have came against the Debrecen, the whipping boys in the group. Opponents Fiorentina might not be too bothered whether they win tonight or not, as qualification is already assured. Italian teams tend not to try too hard if they don’t need to and the 11/4 (Skybet) on a Fiorentina win is probably best ignored.
Liverpool have only managed four goals so far in the campaign and with another low scoring match in prospect we’re having a bet on the under 2.5 goals at 7/10 (Bet365). We’re also selecting a half time/ full time result of Liverpool/Liverpool 12/5 (Coral).
Our prediction is a home win for Liverpool at a pretty handsome price of11/10 (Bet365) with a 1-0 scoreline 5/1 (Ladbrokes). Our first goalscorer selection in this match is going to be Yossi Benayoun 8/1 (Paddypower).
Arsenal are away to Olympiacos in their final match and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten record in the group. To secure a place in the next round Olympiacos need a point and they could well keep things really tight and try and hit Arsenal on the counter to snatch a win. It will be a youthful Arsenal team who take to the field tonight, but with Olympiacos likely to be too adventurous- to try and grab the point they need- they could come away with a result.
A home win is on offer at 10/11 (Coral), but we think the draw 11/5 (Paddypower) offer a bit more value and that is our selection.
We’re predicting a 1-1 result 11/2 (Ladbrokes).
Glasgow Rangers finish their campaign with an away match in Spain against Seville. Rangers have shown their best form in away games in this competition, but we feel their only hope of getting a win 9/1 (Bet365) is if Seville take their foot of the gas because they have already qualified.
Three points would secure the group for Seville and we think they might be eager to get the win to achieve that. At 1/3 (Ladbrokes) Seville won’t get you a fortune if you bet on them, but that seems the only possible option in this match.
We have to go for Seville to win and we think they might win to nil 11/10 (Skybet). We’re tipping a 2-0 win 5/1 (Ladbrokes) with Renato 8/1 (Skybet) our choice to get the first goal.
In Rangers group Unirea and Stuttgart will fight it out to see who will finish second in the group. Unirea have been a surprise package so far and we wouldn’t discount them going to Stuttgart and at least managing to get the point thye need to qualify.
Stuttgart do have home advantage, but they have only managed to pick up one point at home so far and we don’t think 8/13 (Coral) offers great value. Stuttgart haven’t looked that impressive –even when they won in Glasgow against Rangers-and we just have a feeling they could come unstuck tonight.
We’re predicting a draw in this game at odds of 11/4 (Ladbrokes). We’re also recommending a small bet on the 1-1 correct score at 13/2 (Coral).
