Premier League

Liverpool can move back up to fifth with a home win over Birmingham tonight. Despite only one win in eight an all competitions, the home league form of Liverpool is good and they have won their last three home league matches.

Tonight’s opponents Birmingham have only managed one win away in the league so far and although they haven’t suffered any heavy defeats in these matches it would still be a surprise if they were to get the three points from this match.

Birmingham are 10/1 (Ladbrokes) to get a win and while that might be asking too much of them, the draw 4/1 (Skybet) might not be beyond them. A draw has been the result the last four times the teams have met and Birmingham are actually unbeaten on their last three visits to Anfield.

Without Gerrard and with Torres being asked to play although carrying an injury Liverpool could be vulnerable once again and we think the 4/11 (Bet365) could be a little short given their current form and we wouldn’t be feeling very confident having a bet at that price.

The bets we’re recommending tonight are the draw with a 1-1 correct score 9/1 (Coral). We’re also selecting the under 2.5 goals bet at Evens (Paddypower). For a first goalscorer bet Torres at 3/1 (Paddypower) is always worth considering, while James Mc Fadden to score anytime at 5/1 (Coral) can’t be discounted.

Championship

Sheffield United have suffered four consecutive defeats and are without a win in seven as they go into tonight’s Yorkshire derby match with Barnsley. United are now on the same points mark as opponents Barnsley and are priced at 9/5 (Coral) to get the three points tonight.

One ray of hope for Blades fans is the poor record Barnsley have against them. Barnsley have lost their last four meetings with United and haven’t managed a win at Oakwell against them for ten years. Although at present Barnsley are arguably in better form than their rivals a win at 17/10 (Bet365) doesn’t look a brilliant price. We’re more inclined to think this match could end all square and we’re having a bet on the half time/full time result of Draw/Draw 4/1 (Ladbrokes).

We’re going for the match to end in a draw 12/5 (Skybet) and think a bet on a 1-1 result 11/2 (Ladbrokes) could be successful.

FA Cup

As Charlton found out to their cost, there are still plenty of opportunities for cup shocks to take place and Millwall won’t have an easy ride against AFC Wimbledon tonight.

Home advantage could be the key to this tie with Millwall still unbeaten in the league at home this season. We’re sure AFC Wimbledon will rise to the challenge of being underdogs and we’re sure they will make Millwall fight all the way tonight.

The over 2.5 goals is available at 8/13 (Paddypower) and is worth a bet.

We’re predicting a win for Millwall 2/5 (Ladbrokes) but feel it might be a narrow one and so we’re going for a 2-1 result 7/1 (Coral).
