Weekend Football Betting
The big freeze has played havoc with fixtures this weekend with a lot of games being postponed. Hopefully the matches we have concentrated on will still be on.
Premier League
At 11/8 (Ladbrokes) Burnley could be value at home against Stoke. The loss of manager Owen Coyle is a blow to the Clarets, but they are up against a Stoke side who have only managed one win away from home this season.
We’re predicting Burnley to bounce back from their of field upheavals this week and get the win. The 2-1 correct score bet is on offer at 8/1 (Skybet) and that’s where our money will be going. Steven Fletcher 6/1 (Paddypower) is our first goaslcorer selection.
Chelsea haven’t won any of their last three away games and that must give Hull City some encouragement for their clash with the Blues. Hull will need the encouragement though, as they haven’t won for six matches and have only managed one goal against Chelsea in their last three outings. This looks a solid away banker bet and it could also be worthwhile having a bet on the over 2.5 goals 8/11 (Coral). Taking Chelsea to win to nil is an option worth considering and at 11/8 (Skybet) looks pretty good value.
We’re predicting an away win for the league leaders at odds of 4/11 (Bet365) and think a correct score bet on a 3-0 result 17/2 (Skybet) could come up.
Having now gone seven games without suffering a loss at home, Fulham are one of the form teams at the moment. It would pay to stick with them, especially with bottom club Portsmouth this weekend’s visitors to Craven Cottage.
Fulham have only lost once this season to a side in the bottom half of the table and so with Portsmouth without a win in six away the home win appears to be the sensible option betting wise. We’re picking a home win at 5/6 (Paddypower) and coupling that with Fulham to win to nil 23/10 (Paddypower). We’re forecasting a 1-0 win to Fulham at odds of 6/1 (Ladbrokes).
Two draws and three defeats on their last five visits is Tottenham’s recent record away to Liverpool. It doesn’t make great reading, but in the past Spurs haven’t been going as well as they are this season and Liverpool haven’t been in as indifferent form as they are at the moment. Spurs are hanging in there on the coat tails of the leading three teams in the league and a win here would go a long way of improving their chances of finishing in the top four this season.
Liverpool are very inconsistent and although they have won their last two at home, we think they might have to settle for a point against Spurs who are unbeaten in four away from home. Our prediction is for this match to finish in a draw 13/5 (Bet365) and we’re having a small bet on a 2-2 correct score 16/1 (Skybet). Our choice to be first goalscorer is Dirk Kuyt 8/1 (Coral).
Championship
Second play third tonight (Friday) when West Brom take on in form Nottingham Forest at The Hawthorns. Forest have now gone 16 games without defeat and they could be worth a bet tonight to take something from this match. Forest are unbeaten in their last 12 away matches and haven’t lost an away match all season and with 75% of their away games ending in draws that is where our money is going tonight.
We’re predicting a draw 12/5 (Coral) with a 1-1-scoreline 11/2 (Ladbrokes).
Only two of the last 10 meetings between Derby County and Scunthorpe have yielded two goals or less. That would seem to indicate that the over 2.5 goals at 9/10 (Bet365) could be a bet to be getting on in this match.
Both teams are struggling this season and although Derby are odds on at 10/11 (Coral) to get a home win, we think Scunthorpe might just cause a bit of an upset and we’re going for them to get a rare away win at odds of 16/5 (Skybet). We’re also having a little bet on a 3-2 result 50/1 (Skybet).
