Football League Betting This Weekend
Although it is an International weekend with World Cup qualifiers taking place there are also Football League fixtures taking place and we have chosen a few bets that can provide us with some winners.
League One
Charlton have looked like a Championship side playing in a lower division and have won all five of their matches so far this season. Their fixture with Brentford - who remain unbeaten – will be arguably their biggest test so far this season, but we still expect them to win.
Brentford do have some injury worries for this game and could be without a couple of their regular defenders. At 4/1 (Ladbrokes) we’re sure there will be plenty of support for Brentford, but we’re siding with the home side at 4/6 (Skybet).
We’re predicting a 3-1 win for Charlton 11/1 (Bet365).
Leeds United have also won five straight matches and are joint top of the league. They are at home to Stockport County and should pick up all three points again.
Leeds are 1/3 (Paddypower) to get the win and we’re going for a 3-0 win 8/1 (Bet365) in this game. Our pick to be first goalscorer is Jonny Howson 14/1 (Paddypower).
Leyton Orient haven’t lost any of their last six meetings against Southend and have won on two of their last three visits. Leyton Orient have made a pretty good start to the season and at odds of 11/5 (Ladbrokes) we think they are decent value and should be backed. (Note - This is a Friday evening fixture)
Gillingham haven’t won in their last four league outings but we are going to take them to end that sequence with a home win against Exeter. In the last six matches between these two sides five times the home team have come out on top with the away team not managing to find the net in any of the games. With these stats in mind we’re going to take Gillingham to win to nil 5/2 (Skybett).
We’re selecting a home win at 11/10 (Coral) and tipping a 1-0 result 7/1 (Ladbrokes). Stuart Fleetwood 10/1 (Bet365) is our pick to be first goalscorer.
League Two
On Friday night Barnet travel to Northampton and having made a bright start to the season we can see them taking all three points from this game at a decent price.
We’re predicting an away win for Barnet 11/4 (Skybet). A bet on the correct score of 2-1 12/1 (Bet365) can also bring a return on your stake.
Many people thought Notts County would run away with the league, but they have lost twice away already this season and sit in fifth position in the league. Their home record is different however and they are unbeaten having scored 12 goals and conceding nil in their three home matches so far. Newly promoted Burton Albion are the visitors on Saturday and although they have made a good start to the season and are on the same points mark as County we are going for the home team to win this.
Our prediction is a win for Notts County 8/15 (Paddypower). We’re also going to have a bet on a 3-0 correct score 11/1 (Skybet). Lee Hughes 4/1 (Bet365) is our tip to be first goalscorer.
Crewe should be too good for Macclesfield and we’re selecting a home win 8/11 (Paddypower ) in this match.
The 2-0 correct score at 15/2 (Skybet) looks a decent price and is worth a bet.
Rotherham are 6/5 (Skybet) to beat Chesterfield at home and we’re surprised they are odds against as we expected then to be much shorter. Chesterfield haven’t won away from home this season and have lost three of their last four league games against Rotherham.
Rotherham look a great price to get the win and we’re predicting them to win 2-1 8/1 (Skybet).
