This weekend we are focusing on matches in the Premier League and Championship for our betting action.

Premier League

Burnley leak goals away from home and that could be good news for bottom club Portsmouth. Having conceded 25 goals in their seven away games we’re, pretty sure Portsmouth will find the net. We’re not so sure Pompey will actually win the game however. Both teams to score is on offer at 4/5 (Ladbrokes) and we would be surprised if this bet wasn’t a winner.

Our prediction for this match is a draw 5/2 (Coral). We think a little bet on a 2-2 scoreline 16/1 (Skybet) could bring a profit.

Chelsea lost in midweek at Blackburn in the Carling Cup and they look to have another difficult fixture away at Manchester City this weekend. City have only lost one league game all season, but they have drawn far too many games and have slipped to seventh in the table. Chelsea have won on five of their last six visits to City, but we think Mark Hughes’ men are better equipped to deal with Chelsea than they have been in the past and at 3/1 (Paddypower) they look an extremely good price for a home side.

Our prediction in this one is a win for Manchester City with the1-0 result 11/1 (Skybet). In the first goalscorer betting Craig Bellamy 10/1 (Paddypower) looks a big price and could prove to be value.

Aston Villa are unbeaten in six matches at home and we’re tipping them at 1/2 (Skybet) to take all three points against Hull. In this match the under 2.5 goals 23/10 (Bet365) is a bet we think can reap some rewards.

We’re predicting a Villa win with a 1-0 scoreline 6/1 (Paddypower).

With Fulham having a decent home record and Sunderland struggling a bit on the road, the home win looks to be the bet to get on here. There’s never usually a lot between these two teams and so a bet on Fulham to win by one goal at 3/1 (Bet365) interests us.

A win for Fulham 6/5 (Skybet) by 2-1 7/1 (Paddypower) is our prediction. A first goalscorer bet on Bobby Zamora 13/2 (Paddypower) is another bet we recommend.

Championship

Nottingham Forest have been quietly creeping up the league table and are now unbeaten in 10 matches. They could move up to third with a win over Leicester (who haven’t won at Nottingham for over 40 years) and at 11/8 (Ladbrokes) look worth a bet to get the win. We can’t see a lot of goals in the match so the under 2.5 goals 7/10 (Bet365) looks a pretty safe bet to us.

Our prediction is a home win for Forest with a 1-0 scoreline 7/1 (Ladbrokes). In the first goalscorer betting we like the odds of Lewis McGugan 14/1 (Ladbrokes) to get the first goal.

Scunthorpe and Coventry have found wins hard to come by recently, but we are hoping home advantage will see Scunthorpe take the points in this match. Scunthorpe at 7/5 (Bet365) look worth a bet.

Ipswich are unbeaten in 7 despite still being in the bottom three. They travel to Bristol City who are going through a bit of a slump at present and we wouldn’t be surprised to see Ipswich take something from the game. A win for Ipswich is on offer at 9/4 (Coral) and if you fancy the away win we wouldn’t talk you out of it.

We prefer the draw however at 12/5 (Skybet).and think the match might end 1-1 11/2 (Ladbrokes).
