Tuesday Night Football Bets
Carling Cup matches and Scottish CIS Cup games offer us betting opportunities tonight and we have picked out the best of them for you.
CARLING CUP
Although Barnsley knocked out Premier League opposition in the last round when they beat Burnley, Carling Cup holders Manchester United are going to be a whole lot tougher even with United likely to rest many players.
Barnsley are 6/1 (Ladbrokes) to take another Premier League scalp, but we don’t think it will happen. We think United will be too good for Barnsley and we’re going for them to get a win at odds of 1/2 (Skybet). A correct score bet of 2-0 (Paddypower) is where we will be putting our money and a first goalscorer bet on Ryan Giggs at 10/1 (Bet365).
Portsmouth will face a second string Stoke side in their tie at Fratton Park but that doesn’t mean this will be a foregone conclusion. Portsmouth will also be without the cup tied Kevin-Prince Boateng, Jamie O’Hara, Mike Williamson and Tommy Smith, so we can see a pretty close match here.
Pompey are still stuck at the foot of the table and have had difficulty in scoring goals. Their lack of goals could once again be their downfall tonight and we think Stoke should be backed tonight.
Stoke are priced at 11/4 (Skybet) to get a win and we believe they are worth a bet. We’re predicting a 2-1 win 10/1 (Coral).
We’re tipping Sunderland to get a home win against Aston Villa tonight at odds of 6/4 (Bet365). There’s only a point between the teams in the league and we don’t think there will be a lot between them on the pitch either. The over 2.5 goals bet at Evens (Coral) can be a winning bet tonight .Eighty percent of Sunderland’s home games this season have yielded over 2.5 goals and with such a high percentage is surely worth a bet.
Our prediction is a win for Sunderland and we’re going to tip the 2-1 scoreline 9/1 (Skybet). Our first goalscorer selection in this match is going to be Andy Reid 16/1 (Bet365).
SCOTTISH CIS CUP
First Division Dundee play hosts to Rangers in this cup tie and it will be a good test for the home team against the blue half of the Old Firm. Dundee have actually spent more money on players this season than Rangers and are on a run of seven games without defeat. They beat SPL opposition in the last round when they defeated Aberdeen 3-2 at Dens Park and we think they might give an inconsistent Rangers team a run for their money tonight. Rangers are unbeaten in their last 9 games, but they have been drawing a lot of them and at 1/2 (Ladbrokes) we don’t think they look great value tonight. Dundee are 6/1 (Coral) to pull off a shock but we think a draw 7/2 (Skybet) might be the best they will manage.
We’re predicting a draw and think a 1-1 correct score bet 8/1 (Skybet).
St Johnstone haven’t managed a home win in the SPL so far, but they have been playing well. They can get a confidence boosting win against Dundee United tonight at decent odds. The over 2.5 goals is a bet we recommend at Evens (Skybet).
We’re selecting a win for St Johnstone 21/10 (Bet365) and we’re also going to go for a 3-2 scoreline 40/1 (Skybet).
