The big matches keep coming thick and fast and tonight’s Premier League fixtures include Arsenal away at Aston Villa and there is also the Carling Cup Semi Final second leg between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Premier League

Aston Villa haven’t managed a win in their last three league games and if they want to maintain a serious challenge for fourth place (or better) they have to start taking points off the “Big Four” when they come calling. Villa did beat Chelsea at home and we think they can at least take appoint from Arsenal.

We’re predicting a draw 12/5 (Paddypower) and think a bet on the 1-1- correct score 11/2 (Ladbrokes).

The 2/9 (Coral) on offer about a Chelsea win looks a bit skinny to us, especially against a Birmingham side who are 12 league games unbeaten. Five of the last nine meetings between the teams have ended all square and we think a draw is overpriced at 5/1 (Bet365) and should be backed. We’re predicting a 0-0 scoreline 16/1 (Bet365).

Blackburn have a pretty good home record against Wigan and we think that might be enough to see them through against a pretty unpredictable Wigan side. At Evens (Paddypower) we will be having a bet on Blackburn to get a home win.

Sunderland just can’t seem to win away from home and Everton isn’t an easy place to get a result even when you are playing well, so a home win looks likely. The under 2.5 goals bet at 4/5 (Paddypower) is recommended.

We’re predicting a home win for Everton at 4/6 (Skybet). We are selecting Lois Saha 9/2 (Ladbrokes) to get the goal in a 1-0 win 6/1 (Bet365).

Carling Cup

Manchester United and Manchester City meet at Old Trafford in the Carling Cup Semi Final and there could be fireworks in this game. City are holding a one goal advantage from the first game and United will have to come at them. We are looking at the over 2.5 goals bet 4/5 (Paddypower) to bring some winnings. We also think United at 4/6 (Bet365) to get a home win is the bet to be on.

We’re predicting a home win for United and we’re having a bet on a 3-1 scoreline 12/1 (Skybet). Wayne Rooney to be first goalscorer at 4/1 (Skybet) is another bet we like.

SPL

SPL leaders Rangers make the short trip to Paisley to play St Mirren still short of forward players through injury. St Mirren have only lost twice at home so far this season and are also on an unbeaten run of four matches at home. In the last four meetings between the teams a single goal has separated the sides and we expect this match to be a close run thing. Rangers are 4/9 (Ladbrokes) but that looks a little too short a price as they struggle to score goals when Boyd and Miller are missing.

We’re predicting an upset here and picking St Mirren at 15/2 (Skybet) to get a win by 1-0 20/1 (Skybet).

Celtic are at home to Hibernian and we can see Celtic getting the upper hand in this game. At 2/5 (Coral) Celtic don’t look tremendous value, but we still think they will come out on top. Our prediction is a 3-1 win for Celtic, which is on offer at 11/1 (Skybet).
