Champions League

Arsenal were maybe a little fortunate in the way they scored their two goals against Celtic in Glasgow last week, but they limited the Scottish side to very few chances and are deservedly hot favourites at 1/3 (Skybet) to win again at the Emirates.

We can’t see Celtic managing to get a win even although the 9/1 (Paddypower) is a very big price and could tempt a few bets.

We predict a 2-1 win for Arsenal 8/1 (Skybet) and think Eduardo 5/1 (Ladbrokes) could be first goalscorer.

APOEL Nicosia of Cyprus put in a good display in Copenhagen last week despite eventually going down 1-0 to the local side. Home advantage should be enough to see APOEL win the match and at 7/5 (Coral) they look a good bet. We’re selecting a 2-0 correct score bet at 11/1 (Paddypower).

Carling Cup

Blackpool have drawn their four league games this season and it would be no great surprise to see them take Premier League Wigan beyond 90 minutes tonight. The draw here is on offer at 12/5 (Coral) and has to be worth serious consideration. We’re going to go with Wigan to bounce back from their 5-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United and get a win.

We’re having a bet on Wigan at 11/10 (Ladbrokes) to get an away win.

Tottenham 2/5 (Bet365) have the looks of a banker away bet at Doncaster. We can see a few goals being scored here and think the over 2.5 goals 4/5 (Bet365) is worth a bet.

We’re predicting a 3-1 win for Tottenham 12/1 (Skybet). Robbie Keane 11/2 (Paddypower) is our selection to be first goalscorer.

Europa League

Fulham hold a 3-1 lead going into their second leg match with Russian side Amkar Prem and should qualify for the league stages of the competition.

We’re tipping a 1-1 draw 23/10 (Coral).

Aston Villa are a goal down from their first game with Rapid Vienna. A fine win away at Liverpool will have boosted Villa’s confidence and a home win 1/3 (Ladbrokes) is our selection.

A Villa win with a 4-1 correct score 22/1 (Skybet) are the two bets we’re picking out here. Having a bet on Aston Villa’s James Milner 8/1 (Paddypower) to be first goalscorer can be a winner.

Everton should have an easy night in the Czech Republic against Sigma having won the first match 4-0. With the tie all but won we think Everton might take their foot off the gas and we’re going for a home win for Sigma at 11/5 (Bet365). A bet on a 1-0 win 10/1 (Skybet) is worth a little bet.

Hearts were awful in the first match away at Dinamo Zagreb and have looked poor defensively in all their matches this season. Hearts are only playing for their pride tonight, but we don’t think they will get a win 11/8 (Ladbrokes) and instead we’re selecting the draw 9/4 (Paddypower).

We think a bet on a 1-1 correct score 11/2 (Bet365) could be a winner.
