There’s Premier League action tonight between Liverpool and an interesting Carling Cup tie being played Between Norwich and Sunderland.

Liverpool are at home to Aston Villa tonight and will want to make sure of taking all three points having already suffered one defeat. Villa  have only played one league match so far this season, but thatresulte4d in a loss at home to Wigan where the team put in a pretty miserable performance.

Liverpool are odds on at 5/11 (Coral) to take all three points and with Villa’s last win at Anfield coming back in 2001 that looks a decent bet. Villa 8/1 (Skybet) to win will need to show vast improvement from their first match if they are to avoid an embarrassing defeat, but realistically we can’t see them taking anything form tonight’s match.

We’re predicting a win for Liverpool with a 3-1 scoreline 10/1 (Paddypower). Dirk Kuyt 7/1 (Ladbrokes) is our pick to get the first goal.

In the Carling Cup tonight Norwich City are at home to Sunderland and we think an upset could be worth a bet, especially if Sunderland decide to rest some of their first team squad.

Paul Lambert took charge of Norwich for the first time at the weekend and transformed a side from one that was looking a soft touch, into one that looked hungry and willing to fight for every ball. Of course Sunderland will be far tougher opponents than Wycombe were, but at odds of 7/2 (Bet365) it could be worth taking a chance on Norwich- depending of course on the Sunderland team selection.

We’re predicting a Norwich win and going for a 2-1 correct score 16/1 (Coral).

Tuesday

Leeds United haven’t lost at Elland Road since January and have won 13 of their last 14 home matches. Even with their opponents Watford playing in the Championship Leeds United look worth a bet to get a win. Opponents Watford have made a decent start to the league season  and have only suffered one defeat so far, but they had to wait until extra-time before beating Barnet in the last round and we feel that Leeds may just edge this match.

We’re predicting a win for Leeds 6/5 (Bet365) and we’re selecting a 2-1 correct score at odds of 7/1 (Ladbrokes). Luciano Becchio 6/1 (Paddypower) is our first goalscorer selection.

Birmingham look a good bet at Evens (Bet365) to get an away win at Southampton. This looks a big price for a Premier League team who are playing a side without a win in four league games and who reached this stage of the competition by beating League Two side Northampton  rather unconvincingly 2-0 in the first round.

This looks a banker away win and we’re predicting Birmingham will win 2-0 15/2 (Paddypower). Gary O’Connor 6/1 (Ladbrokes) is our selection to be first goalscorer.

Both Preston and Leicester remain unbeaten in the Championship after the first four games of the season and we don’t think there will be an awful lot between them tonight. We’re going to go for a draw in this match 12/5 (Coral) and think a bet on a 1-1 correct score 6/1 (Bet365) could be a winning bet.

Swansea won their first league game of the season away at Coventry at the weekend, but Coventry were poor on the day and we’re going for opponents Scunthorpe to get an away win here. Scunthorpe won 2-0 on their last visit to Swansea and we think a repeat of that result could be worth chancing.

We’re selecting an away win for Scunthorpe 7/2 (Skybet) with a 2-0 correct score 22/1 (Paddypower).
