This is probably the final every neutral fan wanted. Both Barcelona and Manchester United have natural attacking tendencies and it’s very possible that this could be one of the most open Champions League Finals in years.

If both teams attack from the off then this could be a real classic and the over 2.5 goals at 43/40 (Bet365) would seem like a steal. We do think it is worth backing as both teams score goals for fun. It could also pay to take both teams to score which is available at 8/11 (Ladbrokes)

Manchester United are aiming to be the first team since AC Milan way back in 1990 to successfully defend their title and they are priced at  7/4 (Coral) to do so in 90 minutes. Even with their vast experience and array of stars we think this could be a very close match, with not a lot separating the two teams.

Barcelona also have some exceptionally talented players in their team and their intricate passing has been a joy to watch this season. At 17/10 (Skybet) to win in 90 minutes there isn’t a lot between the two teams in the eyes of the bookmakers and that could be the case during the match too.

Both teams are priced at 10/11 (Paddypower) to lift the trophy and that just shows how close these two teams are.

While it is the attacking players like Henry, Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney that capture the imagination of the fans, it could come down to the two defences and which one copes better keeping the flair players quiet that could win the match.

This is where we think Manchester United have an advantage. Suspensions mean Barcelona will be without their two recognised full backs and with regular centre back Marquez also missing we think United can exploit the make-shift defence.

United are on an unbeaten run of 25 matches in the competition and it should also be remembered that they have never been beaten in the European Cup/Champion’s League final, where they have made three appearances and won them all.

To pick a first goalscorer from such an array of talent is almost impossible, but we’ve decided to go with Wayne Rooney 15/2 (Skybet) as we believe he will start up front with Cristiano Ronaldo. If you are looking to back a Barcelona player then our tip would be Messi at 7/1 (Bet365).

We think that Manchester United’s experience may well go a long way to securing them a win in the final and so they are our selection.

We’re predicting a win for United and we are going to go with the 2-1 correct score 10/1 (Ladbrokes).
