Weekend Football-Kick Off with Some Winners
The new football season kicks off this weekend with only the SPL and the Premier League not in action. We’ve found some bets that appear to be decent value and hopefully we can get the season off to a good start.
Championship
Championship new boy’s Peterboro start their campaign away at Derby and at 16/5 (Skybet) they could be worth a bet. Peterboro have a winning mentality and even though Derby had decent home form last season this could be a tough match for them.
We’re going for the away win and we’re selecting the 2-1 correct score bet at 14/1 (Ladbrokes).
Two relegated teams and two of the promotion favourites meet, when West Brom play hosts to Newcastle. We’re going for a home win as we think the Baggies will lose very few home games this season. West Brom to win is a decent price at 13/10 (Bet365) and that’s the bet we think you should be getting on.
We’re predicting a 3-1 correct score 18/1 (Coral) and think a bet on Craig Beattie at 13/2 (Paddypower) to be first goalscorer can be a winner.
Coventry have only won one of their last five home matches against Ipswich and taking the away win can pay dividends here. Ipswich are 7/4 (Skybet) and that looks a good enough price to be taking. Four of the last seven meetings between these teams have finished in a 2-1 scoreline and it could be worth taking the correct score of 2-1 to Ipswich at 10/1 (Skybet) as the result here.
League One
Title favourites Leeds are at home to newly promoted Exeter in their first match and at only 1/2 (Coral) can be a banker bet for the weekend. Exeter were quite hard to beat away from home last season, but this is a step up and we think Leeds might have a comfortable win .We’re tipping Leeds to win to Nil 5/4 (Paddypower) and also going for a 2-0 correct score 6/1 (Ladbrokes). Luciano Becchio 5/1 (Bet365) is our pick to be first goalscorer.
The away team has won the last three times Southend and Huddersfield have met. Only twice in the last six meetings has there been more than 2.5 goals scored, so with that in mind we’re selecting an away win for Huddersfield 2/1 (Skybet) and having a bet on the under 2.5 goals at 8/11 (Paddypower). We’re predicting a 1-0 correct score 7/1 (Coral).
League Two
All eyes will be on Notts County in this league and they ar eat home to Bradford City another team who have been backed to do well this season. This will be a good test for Notts County but we’re going to go for Bradford to spoil the party and take a point.
We’re predicting a draw 12/5 (Paddypower) and think the game might finish 1-1 6/1 (Bet365).
Cheltenham have never beaten Grimsby in the league and with Grimsby on offer at 11/4 (Skybet) this looks a decent away bet.
Scotland
Dundee have been the big spenders in the Scottish First Division and they should start with a home win 4/6 (Coral) against a Morton side who haven’t really managed to strengthen their squad during the summer. Morton haven’t won in their last five visits to Dundee and we’re predicting a 2-0 correct score 13/2 (Paddypower) in this match.
In the Scottish Third division we’re tipping a draw to be the result in the match between Berwick and Annan. The draw is 13/5 (Bet365) go for a 1-1 correct score 6/1 (Paddypower)
