With the 2010 World Cup actually being played in the African continent there is an added incentive for teams from the region to try and qualify from the groups.

There are five final groups of four in the African qualifying zone with the winners from each group qualifying for South Africa.

This group matches are now at the half way stage this weekend with everybody having played three matches and there are some surprises at this early stage of the groups.

We’ve had a look through the matches taking place this weekend and come up with a few bets we believe can return a profit.

In group A Morocco and Cameroon are the two teams with previous decent World Cup form, so it is a bit of a surprise that Gabon top the group, but their match with Cameroon this weekend has been postponed and this gives Morocco and Togo a chance to close the gap.

Togo have Emanuel Adebayor leading their attack and they will have chance of upsetting Morocco, who have already lost at home to Gabon. Morocco don’t appear to be the force they once were and we think Togo can get a draw 13/5 (Paddypower).

Ghana at only 8/11 (Skybet) to beat Sudan look a bit of a banker. Sudan are an up and coming side who qualified for the African Cup Of Nations Finals for the first time and are fast improving, but it’s unlikely they will be able to trouble Ghana. Ghana do lack a decent striker at present and we don’t expect them to score a hatful of goals.

Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast clash in a top of the table clash in Group E. Both teams have won their first two games and scored plenty of goals in the process. Ivory Coast have been hit with injuries throughout this campaign and although they have an array of stars in the squad Burkina Faso have a great home record and can upset the Ivory Coast.

Burkina Faso have emerged as a decent side of the last couple of years, their under 17/s finished third in the UEFA World Championships back in 2001 and members of that squad are now making an impact at senior level.

Zambia have already caused an upset by taking a point away against Egypt and they can move top of the group with a win at home against Algeria. Zambia are 11/10 (Skybet) and we think they are worth backing to get the win. We’re predicting a 1-0 win at 5/1 (Paddypower).

In other qualifying matches taking place this weekend we’re going for a home wins for Kenya 11/10 (Paddypower) and Guinea 1/3 (Skybet).
