Carling Cup Semi Final Second Leg
Aston Villa are huge favourites to progress to the Carling Cup Final after their 1-0 win at Ewood Park last week in the first leg match. James Milner scored the all important goal last week and he is priced at 8/1 (Paddypower) to open the scoring tonight and 11/4 (Skybet) to score anytime…and that’s a bet we will recommend.
Blackburn have only managed one win away from Ewood Park this season so their prospects don’t look great especially as they have only scored eight goals in their 11 away league games.
It would be a huge upset if Blackburn were to get a win and the 5/1 (Coral) doesn’t look anywhere near big enough to make us consider a bet on them. They have only won once in their last six visits to Villa Park and we really can’t see them taking anything from the match.
Villa are 8/13 (Bet365) to win the match and surely must be backed at that price. A bet on Villa to win to Nil is another option we feel is worth considering at 6/4 (Ladbrokes) considering how few goals Blackburn score away from home. With Villa having the advantage from the first leg they don’t need to chase the game and we feel there might not be many goals in the game and so we think the under 2.5 goals 10/11 (Coral).
Our prediction is a win for Villa with a 1-0 scoreline at 6/1 (Ladbrokes). For a first goalscorer bet we are selecting Ashley Young 9/1 (Skybet).
League One
As Tranmere have only won once away from home this season you would need to be very brave to bet on them even at 11/4 (Coral) to get a win at Oldham. Oldham have only lost two of their last six games in all competition and they look a really generous price at 11/10 (Bet365) to pick up the three points.
Scottish FA Cup
Stirling Albion and Albion Rovers meet again after the match ended all square at the weekend and we feel there won’t be a lot between the two teams in this match either.
Although Stirling Albion are a division above Albion Rovers they are not in the best of form at home and have only won one of their last five, so we don’t feel 2/7 (Ladbrokes) is great value. We are more inclined to take a chance on Albion Rovers who have only suffered three defeats in their 16 league games. We’re predicting Albion Rovers to get a win 17/2 (Skybet) and think a bet on a 1-0 result 12/1 (Ladbrokes) could be worthwhile.
