Wednesday Football Match Betting
There are five football matches being played throughout today with the African Nations Cup matches being shown on satellite TV. There are also FA Cup matches and an SPL fixture for punters to get stuck into.
Africa Nations Cup
We’re starting with these matches as they are the first to kick off. The Cameroon v Gabon match kicks of at 4.00pm and should result in a win for Cameroon. There is some recent form for matches between these teams as they met in qualifying games for the tournament. Cameroon came out on top in both games with 2-1 and 2-0 victories.
Cameroon are 4/9 (Bet365) to win and we’re going for them to run out 2-0 winners at odds of 5/1 (Ladbrokes). A little bet on Samuel Eto’o 10/3 (Paddypower) to be first goalscorer might bring a return.
Tunisia 5/6 (Ladbrokes) are favourites to beat one of the tournament outsiders Zambia, but there have already been a few upsets in the tournament and this could be another. Tunisia lost in a friendly to Gambia last weekend and didn’t play like a team who would be winning this tournament. Opponents Zambia always seem to raise their game against the “bigger sides” and could be worth a bet to get an unlikely win here at odds of 7/2 (Coral).
FA CUP
Liverpool are having a poor season by their standards, but surely they won’t be on the wrong end of a result against Reading in this third round FA Cup replay. Reading are available at 14/1 (Bet365) to win tonight and that looks a pretty tempting price. Although Reading aren’t doing well in the league and haven’t won for five games, their away form has been a lot better than what they have shown at home. We’re not going to go for an upset as we think Liverpool will win, but we won’t be rushing to put the mortgage on them at 1/5 (Ladbrokes).
We’re tipping both teams to score tonight at 6/5 (Paddypower) and think a half time/full time result of Draw/Liverpool 7/2 (Coral) is worth a little bet. We’re predicting a win for Liverpool by 2-1 9/1 (Skybet) and we’re picking Yossi Benayoun 8/1 (Coral) to be first goalscorer.
Newcastle have drawn their last three matches and seem to be having a little dip in form. They are still unbeaten in their last 11 games and haven’t lost at home yet this season, so Plymouth 7/1 (Ladbrokes) to appear to have a pretty hard task on their hands tonight.
Plymouth lost 3-1 at Newcastle in the league earlier this season and we wouldn’t be too surprised to see a similar result tonight. Our prediction is a Newcastle win 2/5 (Skybet) with a 2-0 scoreline 11/2 (Paddypower).
SPL
Hamilton have only suffered one defeat in their last 5 games and coming off the back of a draw with Rangers in the Scottish Cup the 2/1 (Coral) about them getting the three points at home tonight can’t be ignored. Before their cup win over Partick Dundee United were on a run of five games without a win and they don’t look like team playing with any confidence.
It’s a home win for us and we’re also going to have a bet on a 2-1 scoreline 11/1 (Skybet). A little bet on Simon Mensing to be first goalscorer at odds of 12/1 (Paddypower) looks worth a chance.
