Our Pick of the Football Bets This Weekend
Premier League
Birmingham seem to be great value to get a home win against Everton. We can’t really understand why a team who are 10 games unbeaten at home are on offer at a longer price than an away team who have lost their last two games on their travels. It’s true Everton are playing well, but Birmingham aren’t exactly playing badly. The 2/1 (Bet365) on offer for a Birmingham to get the home win looks overpriced and must be worth a bet. We’re predicting a 1-0 win 15/2 (Paddypower).
Stoke have a few injuries for their home match against Aston Villa, but we are still going to pick them to get a win. At home Stoke are hard to beat and at 21/10 (Coral) are a good price. The under 2.5 goals must be worth considering at 4/6 (Skybet). Our prediction is Stoke to win the match 1-0 15/2 (Paddypower). Matthew Etherington 16/1 (Skybet) is a longshot to be first goalscorer, but just might pop up at a price.
Championship
Doncaster Rovers have beaten Derby the last three times they have met and being at home here we feel they merit our selection at pretty generous odds of 11/10 (Ladbrokes). We’re predicting the match to finish 2-0 9/1 (Skybet).
It ‘s been a long time since they won away from home (17games) , but we think Peterborough might have a chance to pick up three points against out of form Watford. The generally play well against Watford and at 4/1 (Coral) they are worth a little flutter. Our money is going on a 2-1 result 16/1 (Bet365). Sergio Torres to score anytime 5/1 (Paddypower) is a bet we’ll be having.
Reading have won four of their last six home games and can beat Bristol City who have been quite poor lately. In this match the half time/full time result of Reading /Reading makes some appeal at 15/8 (Ladbrokes) along with the home win at 4/5 (Skybet).
League One
After a much needed win at Tranmere midweek it could be worth taking the chance that Leeds are back on form and at 9/5 (Bet365) for an away win a bet on Leeds could pay dividends. We’re predicting a comfortable 3-0 win 35/1 (Paddypower).
League Two
Barnet have drawn four of their last six home matches and there’s a fair chance that their clash with Accrington will also result in a draw 12/5 (Coral).
There have been three draws in the last seven meetings between Shrewsbury and Rochdale and with a point likely to be not too bad an outcome for either team we feel the draw 12/5 (Skybet) along with a bet on a 1-1 scoreline 11/2 (Coral) might bring some returns.
Scottish Cup
Kilmarnock beat Celtic at Rugby Park last month in the SPL, but realistically this is Celtics only chance of silverware this season and they just can’t afford to lose. A defeat could cost Tony Mowbray his job, so there’s a lot at stake, but we are siding with Celtic to get a win 4/9 (Ladbrokes). A bet on Celtic to win 3-1 12/1(Skybet) with Morten Rasmussen to be first goalscorer at 11/2 (Bet3650 are bets to seriously consider.
You should bet on Rangers also reaching the semi finals although Dundee United will make it hard for them. We are having a bet on both teams to score 4/5 (Paddypower) as well as the home win 1/3 (Ladbrokes).
