Tuesday’s FA Cup Matches
Nottingham Forest held Birmingham to a goalless draw when the two sides met in the original fixture a week or so ago. We don’t think there will be too much between them in this replay either.
Both teams are on long unbeaten runs and full of confidence. It could be that Birmingham’s good home form, unbeaten in 7 at home could just be enough to get them through the tie. Nottingham Forest are unbeaten in their last 13 away games however and we wouldn’t be too surprised to see this match go beyond the 90 minutes.
We’re predicting a draw 12/5 (Paddypower) and think a 1-1 correct score bet at 6/1 (Skybet) could pay off.
In their last five league meetings with Cardiff, Bristol City have only managed to win once so the 6/4 (Bet365) on offer about a home win looks just about the right price to us. Neither team comes into this match in the best of form. Bristol City haven’t won any of their last four, while Cardiff haven’t won in three, although they are unbeaten in their last three away games. This looks as if it will be another very close affair and with only three of their last 11 meetings yielding three goals or more the under 2.5 goals is a bet we will be recommending at 8/13 (Paddypower).
We’re predicting a Cardiff win 7/4 (Coral) with a 1-0 scoreline 7/1 (Ladbrokes). A small bet on Gavin Rae 33/1 (Ladbrokes) to get the goals might bring a nice return.
A lot of people think Coventry had their best chance of causing an upset in the first match where it ended all square at 1-1. We don’t think that as they seem to have shown improved form over the last month or so and have only lost one of their last six matches and more importantly have won their last three at home.
Portsmouth appear to be in real trouble on and off the pitch and we are not convinced they will have the heart for a battle tonight. We certainly won’t be rushing to take the 6/4 (Coral) about a Portsmouth win and we’re happy to get on Coventry at 7/4 (Coral).
We’re predicting Coventry to win by 3-1 28/1 (Skybet) with Freddie Eastwood 13/2 (Paddypower) our selection to be first goalscorer.
We think there could be a little upset in the Derby v Millwall game. Derby are in poor form at the minute and if they don’t score early the crowd will become impatient and this could make them even more nervous. Millwall have won on two of their last four visits to Derby and at odds of 11/4 (Ladbrokes) they seem worth a bet to get the win tonight.
We’re selecting a 2-0 win for Millwall 8/1 (Bet365).
Having only suffered one defeat in their last 10 matches in all competition Sheffield United are one of the form teams in the Championship at the moment. Opponents QPR have only won one of their last six home games and look plenty short enough at 6/5 (Ladbrokes). Our prediction for this match is an away win for Sheffield United 9/4 (Skybet) with a 2-1 scoreline 11/1 (Skybet).
