International Friendlies Today
Four International friendly matches will take place today and here at footballbetting.net we’re going to try and come up with some bets on these matches that will hopefully give you a return for your money.
Estonia v Faroe Islands
These two teams are hardly giants of International football, but this match still provides good betting opportunities for punters. These two teams have met twice before with Estonia winning both matches. They won 2-0 in the Faroe Islands way back in 1999 and won 5-0 in Estonia in 1998. While there is no recent form between the teams and while the Faroe Islands have improved somewhat over the years this is still a banker home win for Estonia 1/4 (Coral). The over + 2.5 goals looks worth a bet at 21/20 (bet365) and we think Estonia are worth backing to win 3-0 6/1 (Ladbrokes)
Russia v Lithuania
This is the Russian’s final warm up match before Euro2008 and they look a solid bet to get a home win 1/3 (Ladbrokes) Russia have a good home record and should win by a couple of goals. We think the correct score of 3-1 to Russia 9/1 (Skybet) is the bet to be on.
Spain v USA
With friendly wins over Italy, France and Peru already this year it’s hard to see the Spanish team fail to get a result at home against the USA. It’s likely that Spain will field a side similar to the one they will use in their opening match against Russia at Euro 2008 and they should be too strong for a workmanlike USA team. The USA lost 2-0 to England last week at Wembley and didn’t really cause England too many problems. If they play the same way against Spain then they don’t have much chance of pulling off a shock result. It’s a home win for Spain 4/11 (Betfair) for us, with David Villa to get the first goal at 9/2 (bet365).
Panama v Canada
There’s not a lot to go on here, but Panama’s last friendly resulted in a 1-0 win over Guatemala and they are an improving side. Canada were only beaten 3-2 by Brazil last weekend albeit by a young Brazilian side missing many of their stars, and lost 2-0 to Estonia in a recent friendly. Canada are probably a little stronger than Panama and with this game being played in a neutral venue (USA) we think Canada will win the match Evens (Ladbrokes)
